08 | battle of heads

My father was furious and so was Rhonda.

Everything we had been working on for the past couple of weeks was washed down the drain and giving a press conference in just five minutes was the hardest thing for me. What was I going to say to the media?

I knew that while I could always go along with what I had originally planned, Cole had taken more action than me. He had partnered with two of the top pharmaceutical companies in England to create a stronger headline than I ever would. To top it off, my plan was a behind-the-scenes matter - it was one that would take weeks, perhaps, months to put together.

Now was definitely not the time to have a nervous breakdown and it almost felt like no one was on my side.

"Why would you tell him that, Sienna? Are you out of your mind?" My father yelled. We were in my office and I was sitting on my office chair, listening to the two shout at me. I definitely did not feel like the CEO at this moment.

Rhonda joined, "Did you really think he was going to be your best friend contributing to your goddamn ideas? Well let me tell you, young lady, everyone. And I mean everyone in this world is here to eat you alive, and they ain't gonna worry if you're okay or if you need a band-aid. Do you realize what you've done?"

I sighed. "I know, okay? I know what I've done and I've screwed up big time. I don't need you guys going against me!"

"We're not going against you, we just can't believe you did that!" My father shouted.

"You know what? If you guys aren't going to support me, that's fine! But we have a press conference in a couple minutes and all you guys are doing is freaking out! This is the last thing that I need right now."

That moment, Edward, who was also informed on the plan walked in shaking his head. "Everyone's outside. Are you coming?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied curtly, and sent a glare to Rhonda and my father. I got off my chair and quickly got into the elevator with Edward.

"How do you feel?" He asked me.

"Like a fuck up." I answered, "I'm so naive."

Edward shook his head, "Now don't say that." We quickly approached the ground floor and before I could say anything, he quickly instructed me. "Go up there and kill it. Say your thanks, say that you plan on releasing your plans soon, date to be determined. You just have to go up there with a greeting. No one's asking you for a masterplan for anything. Now go!"

The elevator dinged open and I was immediately faced with two security men who guided me to the side entrance of the building where the press stood impatiently, flailing their cameras on their shoulders the moment someone was to take a spot at me.

At this moment, I knew Cole Houston was watching me live. He was listening all ears. And this time, Sienna Kensington needed to hold all the power.

I quickly spotted Edward who stood behind me and gave him a quick smile. He was really the only one there for me while Rhonda and my father were probably sitting perched up in the office, watching me on TV.

I stepped into the limelight. Taking a deep breath in, I started. "Good afternoon everyone! It's a pleasure to have all of you here and it is my pleasure to be ProsthoWorks' new CEO and chairman - or in this case, woman," I said with a light chuckle which really only earned more shutter clicks of cameras. Keep going. Breathe deep. "First and foremost, I want to thank my father for building this beautiful empire of biotechnology which is already the leading biotechnology company in the industry. It's truly built upon promise, dedication and hard work which I will fulfill with great passion. ProsthoWorks has a line of ideas and plans set out to bring ourselves more involved into the industry.
