Kaylyn's POV
Carl remembered who I was, and shouted my name, before plowing into me. I sunk to my knees to receive him, as he sobbed into my chest. "I thought you were gone." "No lad, I'm here, I'm here..." I whispered, hugging him tighter. Rick and Lori joined in, and we cried, tears of happiness. I had found my family! I thought I was alone! I had made the right choice, in stepping out of the trees. And now, they wanted me to come back with them to camp. I really didn't know how to take that, I mean I wanted to go, but at the same time, I didn't want to get attached. Bad things happen when I get attached. But still, I deserve to spend at least one more day with them...
"So you'll come with us?" Lori asked, brushing some hair out of my face. Despite what I knew was my better judgment, I nodded my head. "Yay!" Carl Screeched, tackling me in another hug. I let out an 'oof' from the impact. But out joy was short lived. Shane stomped forward, pushing the redneck and the blonde woman out of the way. "Now wait just a minute! We can't just let her come with us, we have no idea if she's infected or not!" His hostile approach scared me a bit, causing me to withdraw from the others. Shane and I have always had a rocky relationship. I always saw what really hid inside him, while the others were blind to his ruthlessness. My teeth were bared, and a small growl rippled from my throat. Yet, he still kept coming closer. "Look at that, she even sounds like a walker! Why should we want to keep her around? She's just one more mouth to feed!" He had finally backed me all the way into the man who came looking in the woods. My shoulder smacked into his, making us both jar away from each other. I shot him a look of apology. "Come one little Red, say something!" The tone he used was mocking, and seriously pissed me off. He knew damn well I wouldn't say a thing. He opened his mouth again to speak, but his voice was not the one we heard first. "That's enough, Shane," I peered over his shoulder to see Rick marching towards us, the rest of the group in toe. Shane just scoffed. "Are you seriously going to threaten the safety of our group, to defend your guard dog." Okay, that one stung a bit. "She is my family! I'll be damned if I leave her out here to die?" Rick barked, not backing down. Shane growled, turning to stomp off. Yeah, whatever! You do what you want!" I glanced to Rick, who watched as Shane walked away, before turning back to look me over. "You okay?" I nodded.
The others looked between us and Shane, unsure of what just happened. "Come on, we've got to get moving." Rick patted my back, guiding me towards the congregated mass. They stiffened and murmured to each other as we approached. After the little interrogation Shane gave me, the whole group became rather hostile towards me, even with the Grimes protection. The older lady and blonde women were the first two to get start ask questions. "So, who are you?" "Yeah, how did you get here?" "What's your name?" Rick, seeing my distress and overwhelmed face, called them off. "There will be time for questions later. Now we have to get back to camp." They nodded and began to walk off. I however, did not. The man that came looking in the woods must of seen this, for he turned back. "Well, ya comin'?" I shivered in the slightest bit from his southern accent. In all honesty, I found it to be the hottest thing in the world. But I would never in a million years let anyone know that. Damn stupid feelings!
I nodded, but held up a finger, to signal 'one minute'. Turning back to the forest, I put my fingers to my mouth, and whistled. It startled the whole group. A few seconds later, out came Raph and Forge. The duffel bags still on the saddle horn. Forge trotted up, putting his muzzle to my chest. I chuckled and stroked his cheek, then kneeled to greet Raph with a head rub. Turning back around, I placed a hand on Forges shoulder. He walked beside me as I caught pace with the group. Raph barked, and bounded after. We strutted past the redneck man, who was starring right at us. I met his gaze, and gave him a wink. He looked surprised, but soon frowned.
I stepped up to Rick and Lori, and gave a quick dip of my head. I then turned to Carl, who was too busy gawking at my pets, to look at me. Forge bowed to the boy, allowing him to climb onto his back. Or, at least try to. He had trouble reaching the stirrup. "Allow Me..." I whispered, picking the lad up, and setting him onto Forge. Carl laughed with joy as Forge righted himself. I smiled, nudging the stallion to fallow. "Alright then, let's go." Rick nodded. I marched alongside them at the head of the group. Raph and Forge were close to my right.
