Chapter Eleven

I walked out on to the deck after observing hours of endless harassment and arguing, the annoyance of it all finally reaching me and extending my limits. The fuming temperatures and sweaty bodies becoming so rowdy and overwhelming the chance of air seemed illusory. Yearning to be reunited with fresh air, I found myself heading for the sliding door of the balcony. The breezy wind warmthening my knees and exposed skin instantly, spiking the over grown and unkept hairs among my body. I stretched more firmly, reaching out at both ends until a CRACK clicked in my neck and joints. A light yawn washed over me as I walked out into the open space wandering over the inner space of the balcony. I yawned once more, leaning against the inner wide window, sliding down until my butt cushioned the floor. I sat out on the deck feeling the cool brush of the breeze on my neck and through the barred railing.

My eyes wandered to the skies, the night creeping in as the blinding sun set behind me, peering over the roof top, glaring orange faintly, and disappearing from colour. A star-like speck peaked out, brightening as the skies darkened, noticeably brighter then the rest and presently joined by others. The deceiving allusion of burning gas soon singled out for its false pretences. The moons hazing glow lit the speckled black clearer than transparent glass, fit for the sky in the sun’s absence and replacing it suitingly.

The sliding motion of the door awakened me. A glance slyly caught as I shifted my eyes and not my head. The door stopped abruptly at my waist, jerking me off guard as I remained in my distilled stance.

"Oh, sorry,” he apologized and I shrugged my right shoulder in acknowledgement. The shadowing figure stubbled upon himself approached me, the moon’s rays gleaming downwards, brighten his appearance and identity. “You okay?” he added, nearing straightening himself.

I blinked, staring dazed toward the ground, “Alright,” I answered.

His body slid down in a rough unruly collapse; beside me; comforting himself on the solid concrete, nudging his bottom back and forth.  “What are you doing out here?” he asked, curiously, breaking the deathly silence in husky and broken voice.

“Nothing, I guess,” I said dazing up at the sky.

“Uh huh…” he replied with a nod, gawing absently.

Chocking a dry cough forwards, I wiped my lips of the forced saliva, "What you doing here?" I asked.

"Couldn't sleep," he mumbled, "Wired."

I puffed a breath, "Yeah, wouldn't be able to either with Liam snoring," I said, twitching a small smile and twisting my neck to face him, "I don't know about the wired part."

He laughing lightly, "No kidding," he commented calming his laugh, "Mate's a pretty face on the out side but the devil in his sleep," he said, smiling in his pause, "I've had my fair share of sleep overs and there are some things that you just can't forget."

I nodded slowly in agreement, "I bet," I said shifting to the sky.

A comforting silence settled. "Hey... er... what ya lookin' at?" he interrupted, in a regularly levelled tone aside from the sleeping bodies that still remained.

I winced almost, instead lining my lips and parting and moistening them to speak. "Dunno," I answered forwardly, "the stars I guess..."

His stare began to linger on the stars, aimlessly wondering. I frowned to myself, lifting my arm, intentionally invading his gaze. "Over there," I said, pointing to the north, "the three in a line," I continued, " It's Orian's Belt." I lowered my arm setting it at my side as he watched where I guided.

His eyes still began to wander before finally admitting my advice, "Ace," he commented casually in a hushed mellow tone.

"Mmm..." I nodded. "Over there's the Little Dipper," I added, nudging my neck in the opposite direct of the belt.

His head wirily turned to the direction I supplied, silently pausing and squinting towards the stars. "How do you know so much about stars?" he asked.

I huffed a laugh softly, chocking the cough down as it urged to spew, "I don't," in plain reply, "I only know those two and that's it," I told him, glaring at the brighter star-like beam in the sky, "And Venus," I added thoughtfully.

"Venus?" he remarked with sparked excitement, "Where?"

I roll my head on my neck, towards the planet, "Over there," I nodded upwards.

"That's Venus?" he asked in astonishment. What is he so surprised about?

"Yeah," I answered firmly, breathing in the cooling air as the sky darkened into the submerging night. The distant lighting flickered beyond and I yawned.

A tickle of needles prickled as my feet rolled on my heels, I lazily reached towards them for awakening, and settled back unsuccessful. The silence filled the blankness of thought, my body denying response.

I could feel myself losing tension in my legs as I slowly drifted off to sleep but stopped as I remembered I was still out side. I kept my body still and quiet as I waited to gain the feeling.

A light pressure pressed against my lips, soft and mellow with a peaceful and numb departure. My eyes lifted slowly, a burred figure vanishing through the wall and the darkness consuming the rest. Zayn…

A gentle silk-like soft stimulated my skin, falling upon the bare and exposed skin. Forcing my eyes open, a body turned, silently walking, stepping and disappearing through the darkness once again. Stirring slightly, the tingling motion on my shoulder as the cool roll of the window brushed my shoulder. A husky mumble escaping my throat, “Zayn…” as confusion drained my voice.
