Chapter 23 Sweet nothings

            Kate runs until she reach the port, she suddenly stops when she saw Makoto sitting there peacefully watching the ocean. She just stood there catching her breath later then Makoto notices her and smiles. She returns the smile and he waves his hands.

            “Y-you’re here again.” She said as she gets near to him.

            “Ah yeah” he replied with his famous smile which makes her smile too.

            “I’m starting to love this place.” She whispers.

            “Are you saying something?” he asks.

            “A-ah nothing. Uhm so, you’re a swimmer and you are the captain of the swimming club.” She said.

            “Yeah, I’m a back stroke swimmer.” He replied.

            “I used to join that category when I was in America.” She said.

            “Really? That’s great.” He said.

            “My other team mates don’t like back stroke, but for me it is nice because I can see the sky if it is an open pool while swimming.” She said as she smiles.

            “Yeah, you’re right.” He said and silence fills the air. All they can hear is the ocean as it splashes to the rocks and some humming of the flying birds. They don’t mind the silence, they just enjoying the presence of each other.

            “Uhm, it’s getting late I should get go―” she didn’t finish what she is going to say because she tripped while standing in process. Luckily Makoto catch her holding to her waist. A blush travels across her face because their faces are just centimeters away from each other; Even so, no one didn’t dare to move as the air filled again with the sound of splashing waters. Later then Makoto broke the silence.

            “A-ah, are you alright?” he asks as he helps her to stand on her own.

            “Y-yes, yes I’m fine t-thanks.” She stutters.

            “I’ll walk you home.” He proposes.

            “A-ah n-no thanks, I’m fine. I don’t want to bother you anymore.” She said.

            “Nah, it’s alright, let’s go.” He said and grabs her hand.

On the other side………

            Haru and Umi went again to the shore to see the sun set like Umi usually does. They are walking on the sand and enjoying the sunset while holding hands.

            “I used to do this alone but now I’m with you.” She said as she looks at the sunset while walking.

            “You should be use to it.” he said as he pulls her closer to him.

            “Yeah, I’m getting used to it. We should do this more often.” She said.

            “Like everyday?” He said.

            “Nope, every after swimming practice.” She smiles sheepishly at him.

            “Every time you want.” He said looking at her, she smiles. They stop and look as the sun starts to rest. They just enjoy the peacefulness of the place.

            “Haru?” she called the attention of the swimmer. He just hummed as a reply.

            “If you would be a thing, what do you want to be?” she asks as the start to walk again.

            “I want to be the sea.” He answers.

            “Why is that?” she asks again.

            “You love the sea. If I would be the sea that means you love me.” He said with his poker face. This makes her smile and Haru tightens his hold to her hand.

Silence

“You” he said.

“hmn” she looks at him.

“If you would be a thing, what you would be?” he asks her this time.

“Hmmmmm” she thinks.

“I think I would be a mackerel.” She joked.

“No you don’t like mackerels.” He said.

“But you like them.” She said.

“Still a no.” he said.

“Ehhhh~ but I want to be something that Haru likes.” She pouts.

“Stop pouting, I might kiss you again.” He said with blushing poker face (LOL)

“All right, hmmm I think… I want to be the water.” She said and he looks at her.

“So that whenever you see me, you want to be with me and only me, right?” she said and looks at him smiling. Haru showed his rare smile.

“And if you would be the sea and I would be the water, we can still be together.” she added.
