“What the hell did I do last night…?” Aubrey thought to herself. She woke up in the morning with a pounding headache. Within seconds of opening her eyes, her hands flew to her head. She couldn’t believe the amount of pain she was in. Every inch of her body ached. She looked beside her and saw Steven snoring away, still curled up under the blankets. Looking down, she realized the lack of clothing, not just on her, but on him. She groaned as she got up. She moved as quietly as she could so she didn’t wake Steven up. She was not in the mood for a confrontation after last night’s events. As she slipped on her clothes, she felt her stomach turn. She quickly stood up and leaned against the wall. She hasn’t felt this bad after a party in a long time. It took about five minutes for her to finally find her way into her clothes.

As she snuck out into the hallway, her first thought was to find her friends and her sister. It didn’t seem to be a hard thing to do. The second she walked downstairs, she saw all of her friends all fast asleep on the couch. The room was a mess, with empty beer cans, garbage, and people everywhere. The light shining brightly through the multiple windows didn’t seem to affect anyone.

“Katie! Marissa!” Aubrey whispered, as she nudged the two girls with her hands. Both of them were curled up in a ball on the couch beside each other. Neither moved as Aubrey nudged them. “Guys! Come on! Wake up!”

“What? We’re sleeping.” Marissa moaned as she shifted around. Aubrey groaned. This was usually how the mornings after parties went.

“Can you please just get up? I want to go home.” She pleaded. The house reeked like alcohol, and she was ready to get out of here. As she looked around again, she saw that all the others in the group were slowly starting to wake. Sophie and Tony were intertwined with each other on another couch, with Austin sleeping at their feet. As she scanned the room, she caught sight of Sarah, Marissa’s sister, but she didn’t see Shayla with her. A slight bit of panic went through her, and she quickly looked around, trying to see if she was maybe sleeping under one of the blankets, but had no such luck.

“What’s wrong Aubs?” Katie asked her as she sat up and stretched a little.

“Where’s my sister?” she shot back quickly. Katie looked up twisted her head to look around the room.

“I’m not sure. Ask Sarah. She probably saw her last.”

Seconds later, Aubrey was leaning over Sarah shaking her awake. “Sarah! Wake up! I don’t know where Shayla is! And I need to find her!”

Sarah didn’t wake up, just pushed Aubrey hands away. Frustration rose in Aubrey. How on earth did none of her friends care that her sister wasn’t with them? Aubrey quickly gave up.

“Marissa, will you come with me to find her? Please?” Aubrey begged. She pulled at Marissa’s hands, trying to pull up off the couch. This house was way too big for her to search on her own.

“Fine. But only because I’ll never hear the end of it if we lost her.” Marissa joked.

Minutes later, the girls were searching every room in the house. Opening up doors to see more people passed out on the floor, people sleeping in beds, and people also packing up to leave.

“She better have a reason as to why she wasn’t downstairs with you guys. I’m going to kill her if she’s passed out in a bathroom from throwing up.” Aubrey promised.

“Oh please. She’s probably fine and with some other friends.” Marissa explained, trying to defend Shayla. Aubrey was hoping that was the answer. She would never forgive herself if something bad happened to her little sister. Hell, her mother would never forgive her if something happened.
