❦  It took Beck a while to figure out where Jade was. After all he really didn't know her all too well. It remained a mystery to not only him but his sister as to why exactly he was still chasing this girl's heels. Allison seemed to get pretty close with him and it made no sense as to why him and Allison couldn't be a thing. Yes, Beck had thought about going out with Allison but she never made a move and he thought it was too early for him to make one. Besides, he was focused on Jade as of right now. She intrigued him in a way no other girl did. Her badass act and how she chose to be alone stood out to him. They were similar, Beck wasn't much of a talker either. Well he wasn't, until he moved to Dennis Falls. Something changed in him, he suddenly felt the urge to get out and talk to people. Especially Jade.  ❦

After almost an hour of scrambling around after Jade he found her. She was behind their local school cutting up what seemed to be a bin with an extremely large pair of scissors. Beck walked over slowly, watching as she continued to cut up the bin. "Jade," he said softly, carefully sitting down next to her. The girl said noting and continued to cut up the bin. "Jade listen, I-I know about your mom and I just wanna say that I'm s-" Beck rambled on but Jade cut in. "I don't need to hear this right now, what the hell do you want?," she asked without looking up. The only thing different was that she'd stopped cutting off chunks of the bin and was now fiddling with the scissors which made Beck a little on edge. "I wanna get to know you," he said softly, reaching over and taking the scissors from her with care. Jade looked up, watching as he took away the one thing she had to defend herself from him or whoever was bothering her. "Well I don't wanna get to know you!," she said back with nothing but fury. "I get that you're hurt but I mean come on?, you had fun with me last night, give me a chance!," he forenamed, looking into her clear green eyes. Jade sighed, standing up. "Take me somewhere to get coffee," she said bitterly, grabbing her bag. Beck stood up immediately and walked in front of her, heading towards the nearest coffee shop.

After walking a couple of miles, the two teenagers got inside the coffee shop and sat down. Beck ordered their coffees and took a seat directly in front of Jade. "You Okay?," he asked, gulping. Not a lot of his friend had dealt with the loss of a parent. "Yeah I'm great why?," Jade spat bitterly, faking a rather bitter smile. Beck had no clue what to say, what could he say? Damm sorry your mom died, hope you have a good life though?, no obviously not. "So, what's your favourite subject in school?," he asked hoping she'd appreciate a change of topic. "My mom just died and you're asking me about school?," Jade scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You're not exactly making this easy for me!," Beck raised his voice, a couple people turning to look at the teenagers. It wasn't until a couple minutes later when their coffee arrived in front of them that they spoke again. "Drama," Jade said quietly, her arms folded. "What?," Beck raised an eyebrow, confused. "You asked my favourite subject?," Jade replied, referring to their earlier conversation. The two drank their coffee and spoke a couple words, exchanging numbers just as they were leaving. "You want me to drive you home?," Beck offered. "No way," Jade said in an almost reserved tone, she clearly wasn't letting him break down her walls anytime soon. "Alright how about I walk you?," Beck replied, realising a car wasn't the best idea right now. "No thanks I'll walk alone," she replied without hesitation, turning on her heels and walking away.

Haley greeted Beck at the door. "Hey so how did your day with Jade go?," she asked, walking with him into their living room. "Where's mom and dad?," Beck asked, ignoring her question. "Business trip, answers?," she said with a smirk. "It was fine, we got coffee and talked," beck replied, scratching his head. "So her mom really did?..." Haley bit her lip. "Yes Hales!," Beck scoffed and ran upstairs, shutting his bedroom door and collapsing on his bed. It was only about four in the day and Beck was already bored. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and immediately shot up, frightened by the sudden sound. It was a text message from Jade.
"Hey thanks for coffee today and I'm sorry if I'm a little on edge...today's just not my day"
is what she said. Beck smiled softly, replying.
"You're always on edge and it's okay, I had fun...do it again sometime?"
"Don't push your luck Ryans."
It was a short but exciting conversation. Honestly Beck was surprised, he didn't think Jade would reply if he texted her, never mind start a conversation, never mind apologise!.
