Θne Direction – A new beginning
♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ Jo ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫
"How do I look?" Zayn asked with a worried frown on his face as he turned to face me. His face crimpled with lines wrinkling between his brows, dishonouring his beautiful brown eyes. I lifted up my hands to straighten his tie before tidying his collar into a neat array.
"You look absolutely fabulous but...," my hands moved up to his face as my fingers pressed onto his knitted brows. "You will look even better if you stop frowning."
He swallowed a deep breath before letting out a soft sigh. His hands reached up to take mine and he held them firmly while gently rubbing circles with his thumbs on my palms. "I can't help it but I'm actually nervous," he admitted sheepishly.
I chuckled before I leaned forward and pressed my lips gently against his, allowing them to linger for a moment. Even after five years, my heart still skipped a beat every time our lips met.
"Zayn Malik," I teased playfully as his eyes continued to bore on my lips. "What are you getting all nervous for when it's not even your wedding?"
"Still..." he finally broke into a chuckle. "It's too exciting for me."
I rolled my eyes in wonder.
"I wonder how I would feel on my own wedding day..." his voice lingered on. I knew he was testing my reaction so I deliberately pretended not to hear him as I turned away to pick up my hand bouquet.
I heard him let out a soft sigh.
It had been five years since we first met – Zayn and me. Or in fact, One Direction and me. It wasn't just Zayn but the entire One Direction family. Liam, Louis, Harry, Niall and their girlfriends – Danielle, Eleanor and Allie. Poor Harry was still unattached. Maybe he wouldn't call it 'unfortunate' since he's happily chatting up girls everyday even today, at the wedding itself. However, he did seem to have an ambiguous relationship with Allie's best friend – Sammy who turned out to be his partner today as well.
Apart from the main gang, I had also made friends with the band since I was part of them for a year. But there had been many changes to the faces over the years until I've lost track of their names.
But the most amazing thing was the union of the couple that was to be married today – Colin and Val – my two best friends.
Colin was a fellow band mate who played the guitar and it was thanks to him that I had earned my Masters degree in conducting at Royal College Music. It was also thanks to Colin that Zayn and I could get back together. When Zayn and I broke up, Colin was my listener and my companion. And slowly, we became a couple only to end it abruptly when I found out about Zayn's real reason behind our breakup. Colin had encouraged me to return to Zayn and to start afresh with him. I had felt so bad and guilty towards him until he met Val and they simply hit it off.
Nobody could ever imagine the two of them being together. Colin was such a sweet faithful guy while Val was a mad crazy girl who dated only for fun. Somehow, opposites attract and they decided to stick to each other for life. Life could really bring surprises.

Niall smiled as he saw my reflection in the mirror. He was sitting on the bed behind me as I checked my make-up once again.
"You sure it's alright?" I asked anxiously looking at him in the mirror.
"Allie," he said softly, still wearing the smile on his face. "You look absolutely beautiful."
