Day after day I'm more confused
Yet I look for the light through the pouring rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
And I'm feelin' the strain
Ain't it a shame

Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Beginning to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
And I'm countin' on you
To carry me through

Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Yeah, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue
The guitar's comin' through to soothe me

Thanks for the joy that you've given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
And rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You've helped me along
Makin' me strong

Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Hey, give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Na na na, won't you, won't you take me
Oh, take me

For the record, this is classic rock. This is the type of music Dean Winchester would listen to in his Impala with Sam riding shotgun and Cas in the backseat.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, go watch the TV Show Supernatural. It's amazing and so, so, soooo good.

But, back to the song.

This honestly is the classic rock I personally love. And it's totally okay if you don't like it, but here's why I do - the sense of freedom it gives me.

The first time I ever heard this song, my dad and I were in the car. We were on a highway, just driving to go someplace. I don't even remember where, but I do remember the radio being on. The day itself was slightly cloudy, and then this song came on. I swear to god I can still feel the tires rolling along the pavement, I can still hear the way the song sounded between the windows being down and the radio being turned up.

I still feel the freedom of driving along a gorgeous highway, listening to a damn good song and being freaking happy.

Now, this song obviously won't give everybody that feeling. I know that; it would be foolish of me to think that it would be.

But, see, here's the thing - there is always going to be a song that can make you feel free, that can make you smile no matter what's happening.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what song it is.

Because while I may be writing this book for people to feel hope, I'm never going to be able to get everyone a song that's hopeful to them. That's literally impossible.

But if you go and find that song for yourself, I promise that you will feel that hope, feel the way you want to.

That's what this song does for me.

Go find yours, ya idgits. And stay hopeful, until the next song!
