Chapter 1: Relatively Love

It all started when I saw this cute guy at school with my friends. It was almost summer vacation. We are grade 5 elementary students. This is where I, Amber Lautner, get the first feeling of having a crush. I seriously like that guy and so I did some research to know that guy. Well, when a girl knows for themselves that they like a guy, they will just do something crazy like knowing more about them or follow them everywhere. We only have Friendster in this time.

His name was Kurt Lautner. No wonder why we have the same family name but still there are a lot of Lautners’ around the world. He is a basketball player of our school in elementary division. He has a girlfriend named Jane Borrow. Oh! I’m so jealous. He is in E class. And I’m in F class! Too bad that we don’t have to have the same floor level because our class was on the other building.

Every morning I went to school with my best friend, Alicia Reebok. This morning, she greeted me awkwardly “how was your research? Do you now know who he is?”

“Good morning too, Alicia” I said.

“Hey! What’s with the big serious face? Cheer up, girl! Now, what’s his name?”

“His name is Kurt Lautner, section 5, basketball player and he’s taken”

“Wow! You’ve got the same name! Maybe you too were cousins.” She laughed.

“ No way! I didn’t even meet him before”. The bell rings. We didn’t have the chance to continue our conversation. We ran into our classroom.

When class is done, I went to his room to introduce myself. Just like what I’ve said, crazy girls do anything for the person they like. I was looking for him but I couldn’t find him. I guess that this wasn’t my lucky day after all and about to go home. When I turn around, I suddenly bumped with someone.

“Ouch! Will you watch….” It was him! I just stared at him and become speechless.

“Sorry, I’m really in a hurry for practice. Are you alright?” he asked.

He really has cute eyes and a pointy nose and white skin. He is taller than me. Now I am dreaming of him being my boyfriend. I just want to stare at him forever.

“Hello, Amber, are you alright? Do something hurts?” he asked again.

“Hey, how’d you know my name?” I was surprise.

“You’re famous. Don’t you know that? You’ve got a lot of friends in different section and in different schools”

“Oh. That’s weird.”

“So something hurts around your body?”

“No, no, thank you for asking. Hey! A while ago you said that you’re in a hurry. Sorry for bothering you. You should run now.”

“That’s fine! I guess I can take a rest right now. Do you want to go somewhere?”

“I’m kind of hungry. Let’s go to Mcdonalds. My treat.”

This is such a happy day of my entire life! We were talking and talking until we got close to each other. We exchange numbers and pictures. We had a great time until we say our goodbyes. I was so curious to know if he was my cousin so I followed him to see where they parked their car.

The next day, I went to their parking lot and saw his mother. I told his mother that I’m friends of his son. I get a picture of my dad and ask if he knows my dad. It was confirmed! Kurt Lautner was my 3rd cousin! I can’t believe that I fell in love with my own cousin.
