Dans Pov
It's not easy. It's not easy waking up, getting out of bed, going to school or leaving the house whatsoever. It;s not easy when everyone knows who you are or you're know as 'the freak' 'weirdo' 'mistake'. Sometimes the words got the better of me and I believed them it made me feel like crap. When people talked about me I knew it and heard them I chose to ignore it. Because it was just easier that way. Growing up in a very homophobic town and being gay was shit. I felt like a mistake like the world just fucked up when making me. But I dealt with it at the time. My mum accepted me for who I was but my father, on the other hand, hated me. Always called me disgusting and quite often hit me. Each night I came home from school tear stained face eyes black and blue I would fall into my mother's arms and for once I felt safe. Eventually, the bullying became too much and my mum decided we would move. I knew it wouldn't make a difference I was still gay but people didn't have to know. We moved a couple towns over to a place called Eastwood it was nice. Certainly better than where we used to live. There were trees lots and lots of real trees.
"Now Dan, remember what we talked about?" his mother started "Yes, mother" "Don't tell people about what you are until you fully trust them," she said abruptly. "Yeah don't tell people you're a bloody faggot," his father said under his breath. Dan just replied with a sigh and brushed a hand through his curly brown locks staring out the car window. He hated his curls so he straightened it but it had rained and his hair curled. "We're here," his mother said. Dan jumped out eagerly running for the door. He entered and stared inside wide-eyed. It wasn't massive but it was better than the apartment they were once 'living' in. The paint on the wall was chipped and was starting to peel but that was fixable. He slowly walked down the hall taking everything in. He found his room and put his hand on the cold metal doorknob. He turned it and the creaky wooden door opened. The size was massive compared to what he was expecting. There was room for so much stuff. Immediately he ran back outside and waited for the moving truck. It came and he began hauling boxes into rooms. It was finally time to start fresh.
