I watch as a doe stands in a meadow eating the bright, luscious green grass. The female deer was beautiful but, I had a pack to feed. They counted on me not to fail. I looked around and spotted my pack mates, they stand at the edge of the meadow and wait for my command to start closing in. I nod and they creep forward towards the unexpecting animal. When the young doe lifts her head they stop and wait, after a minute she put her head back down. The pack makes its move and lunges with all the force they have. The animal jumps up and starts to bound towards me. I ready myself, and when she passes I jump onto her back. With the wolves close behind, I balance myself on the speeding doe's back, I reach into my leather sack and pulls out my dagger.

It was a gift from my alpha, she found it in a village that was abandoned. It had a ten-inch blade, the handle was made with ivory and had a wolf head on the top.

I took a deep breath and stabbed the blade into the animal's neck. She starts bucking in pain and agony. I had to hold onto her fur tightly, so I would not fall off her back. After a few minutes she slows and with one last cry, she collapses and takes her last breath. I crawl off her back and kneel next to the dead creature. I pull out my blade and place it back into my bag. Before the rest of the pack can return I whisper thanks and safe passage to the afterlife. I heard soft paws on the moist dirt, that signaled me that my hunters were behind me. They bowed their heads and gave thanks, I followed their lead and thanked the animal once more. After the thanks, I pick up the doe and carry her on my shoulders. I nod at the wolves letting them know we can start heading back.

But, on our way back we bumped into a little problem. The cats, or mountain cats if you will, anyway they were waiting for us to pass through our little detour back home. The jumped down from the trees and attacked us, I howled and the pack started a counter attack. The leader of these pests Star Stripe charges at me as I was hiding the kill, but before he could pounce I leaped over him landing behind him. I snarled at him, he hissed back. As we started circling each other the others stop fighting and surrounded us.

They were anxious to see who would win because the treaty between the clans states that when one clan attacks the other while they are on a hunt, the hunting leaders, me and Star Stripe, must battle until the other surrenders. The last one standing gets the kill, I will not lose my pack has had a hard time finding food. This doe will feed us for at least a week, that's when the hunters go out again. Star Stripe pounces on me, the pack urges me to fight back. I get a large rush of adrenaline and I push him off of me. I stand and growl at him, he snarls and runs off his pack following with their tails between their legs.

I stand up triumphant, my pack howls in joy. I walk over to the deer and pick it up. I howl to my pack mates and we finish the journey back to the den. When we get there we sit in the front of the den and wait for the alpha to greet us.

They met us and the alpha nodded at us. That was the sign that we did a good job on the hunt and we were allowed into the den. We walked in and split off and went our separate ways. Some of the wolves went to their dens, others went to see their families. I went to the nursery, that was where the pups go after their born. I walked in and was tackled by the balls of fluff. They were always happy to see me, and I loved to see them.

I giggled as they licked my face, the pups always licked my face. The elders said it was because, I always tasted salty. The pups like the taste of salt, it was weird. But, you get used to it after awhile. As I was playing with the pups and loud howl echoed through the cave. My head darted up as I knew the call danger!!! I jump up and howl to the females. They run to me and I tell them to protect the pups. They nodded and moved the pups to the back of the small cavern. I run out to help the warrior's, when I dart into the light I was blinded for a moment. When my eyes cleared I was hit with a sight I never thought I would see. Humans!!!!!
