Chapter 22

*Harry's POV*

"He really said that?" Niall asked as we were standing on the stage, waiting for the band to set up for the next song.

"Yeah. Like, I really think he wants to join them," I said back, looking at Liam down the front of the stage, talking on his phone as he sat on his wheelchair. "And I bet he's talking to an agent now."

"What?! He can't be! He can't just waltz out of this band," Louis said frantically, looking over at Liam too.

"He kinda can," Zayn commented, earning a glare from me and Louis. "You know what I mean. It's his choice. I get that you guys are upset, but we can't really, nor should we, get in the way of what Liam wants to do with his life."

We all grunted at him and sat on the stairs on stage. "Why do you have to be so...deep?" I asked.

"You actually support Liam's decision to leave the band and join the freaking Secret Agency?" Louis demanded.

"In a way, I do," Zayn admitted. "Look. Hear me out though. I don't want Liam to leave the band either. We're probably in the highest point of our careers, or at least one of them. I wanna continue this with all of you as well. But this is Liam's choice. If he wants to stay, then great. But if he wants to leave and join them, then... We have to be as supportive as we can. It's only fair."

"I guess," Niall agreed, although he still looked upset.

"But it's not fair! This is our first ever world tour and Liam could possibly not even be a part of it if he leaves to join them," I said exasperatedly.

They nodded in understanding, frowning as well. We stayed silent for a bit, until someone told us that we'd be continuing rehearsals and sound check for another 2 hours. We stood up and took our positions on stage (minus Liam), and the band started playing the music.

As we sang "Last First Kiss", I kept looking over at Liam, who finally got off his phone with a frown. He looked on stage and caught my eyes, smiling fakely at me.

He picked up his microphone and sang along with us in the chorus, although he already missed his verse at the beginning. I narrowed my eyes at him and glanced at Louis, who was also giving Liam a stern look.

However, Liam seemed to just brush it off and continued singing when he needed to for the next 2 hours. Once rehearsals were over, I jumped off the stage and walked over to Liam quickly.

"You and I need to talk," I said and started pushing his wheelchair to the doors.

"I had a feeling you would want to," I heard him mutter. "But can we do it after we get back to the hotel? I'm kinda tired."

"How? You weren't even on stage," I asked.

"After the whole running after Louis thing, then that phone call I had... I'm pretty tired," he replied, yawning overexageratedly.

Rolling my eyes as I continued to push him to the car, I helped him in it and sat beside him. The boys came piling in after me, staring at Liam expectedly.

"What?" he asked, looking at at nervously.

"What was the phone call about?" Louis asked, poking Liam's cheek. "It made you all sad; we saw."

"Oh, that? Um... There's no point in lying or avoiding this, right?" he said even more nervously and awkwardly.

"Liam," I said sternly, narrowing my eyes at him.

He pouted and leaned back against his seat, sliding down a bit and whined. "But I don't wanna."

"Really, Liam? You're whining?" Louis said in disbelief, glancing at the rest of us. "Since when do you whine? You never whine!"
