~Annabelle's POV~
I sighed, thanking the Uber driver as I handed him a twenty. I opened the car door and shut it behind me, pausing and staring at the building in front of me. This is it. It's time to be independent. I got a small apartment, just enough to where I can be alone and also pay the rent.
I pushed open the door, the bell above it ringing softly, indicating that someone was here. The lady at the front desk smiled at me.
"Hello, did you reserve a room? Or are you coming to look?" She asks politely as I come closer to her.
"Oh, I already have a room, I just need my key and some directions." I nodded, looking around. It wasn't a big lobby, just a small room with elevators on one side, stairs on the other, and a hallway in the middle.
"Name?" She asks, typing something into her computer.
"Annabelle Reed." She nodded, typing my name in and handing me a key.
"Room 124, last room on your right, first floor." I thanked her before walking into the hallway with my one suitcase. It only had a few things in it.
1) All of my money and savings (That's not in the bank)
2) A few pairs of clothes, including a sweatshirt
3) A stuffed dog that my Dad gave me when I was really young
4) Hair products and toiletries
5) And my computer with earbuds.
My phone was in my pocket but besides that, it's all I brought. I needed a fresh new start and I couldn't do that without getting rid of the things that reminded me of my past the most. The walk only took me about a minute and a half to get all the way down the hallway. Once I reached my door I unlocked it and opened it. It was actually a bit bigger than what I expected, but not huge or anything.
There was a small kitchen as soon as you walk in. The room next to it was a small living room with a television already in the wall, and a small couch. There was a small bathroom with a tub, a toilet, and a sink. The bedroom had a bed with no sheets, a small closet on the other side of the room, and a window that covered the wall with a desk and a chair in front of it. It was better than expected, but I needed a few more things just to make it more comfortable.
I needed food. Mostly because I was getting hungry, but I needed food for the week. What would I do then? Get take out and Post mates everyday? I mean I guess that could be an option, but I have to be more "healthy." Nutella.
I brought my suitcase into my room, wanting to deal with that later. I'm a huge procrastinator. There's no denying that.
I walked out of my apartment, locking the door behind me. I saw a guy, probably right out of his teenage years, unlocking the door to his apartment.
"You're new right?" He asked, turning to look at me.
"Um, yeah I just moved in today." I nodded, looking into his piercing blue eyes. Holy crap, I've never seen eyes that blue.
"Well I'm just telling you now, you'll be gone by the end of the month. Maybe even week." He smirked at me, walking into his apartment and slamming the door behind him. What does he even mean by that? I'll be gone? Yeah right, this is the cheapest, not terrible apartment around here. Anything cheaper has holes in the floors, blood stains on the walls, and no running water.
I just sighed and walked across the hall, into the lobby, with my wallet and phone in my pocket. I noticed that the grocery store was just around the block, maybe like a ten minute walk I guess. So instead of using the bus or calling another Uber, it was just easier to walk.
Once I got there I walked inside, grabbing the necessities.

And pretty much anything else I needed. Yes I did get things like fruits and vegetables, but listen, they're not very interesting.
I got back to my apartment a little later, unlocking the door as I looked next to me. He, my neighbor, opened his door and was locking it behind him. He looked over to me and winked.
"Oh sunshine, wait for tonight, you might wanna go and get some sleep now because you're never gonna be able to get any tonight." He chuckled as I just glared at him.
Are you kidding me? He's gonna be one of THOSE neighbors. Wow and I really thought that I would be able to have a calm living now. Well I guess not. He's gonna be a handful I already know that.
As I step inside and close the door behind me, I place the bags on the counter. I put everything in the cabinets and refrigerator and then realize that I should start unpacking my bag. I sigh as I walk into my room, hanging up my clothes in the closet, and just placing everything where it's supposed to be.
My phone starts ringing as I look to see I'm getting a Facetime call. I chuckle as I answer it and see Ciara's face pop up on my phone.
"ANNA-B!" She screamed, at a very, ehem attractive angle, that she was in. Her face was so close to the camera that all you could see was her one eye wide open, and her nostril flaring.
"Hey C, how you doing there without me?" I laughed as I hopped on my bed with her in my hand.
"Terrible!" She exaggerates, as she flailed her arms to prove her point. "I need to move down there with you. And soon." She groans. "So how's it over there? Ouuuu do you have a cute neighbor? You better not be replacing me!"
"Don't worry, I'm not replacing you. You're my best friend!" I chuckled seeing her sigh in relief. "But I do have a neighbor, and he's a real jerk." I groaned. I then heard laughing on the other side of the wall and my eyes widened.
"Oh sunshine, you'll get used to it, or you won't. Good luck!" He yelled laughing.
C gasped as he said that. "IS HE CUTE?" She yelled, getting closer to the camera once again.
"Oh you know I am Sunshine." He yelled through the wall once again. I could hear him smirking. Like come on, how thin are these walls?
