~No matter what, you will find a reason to smile.~
ChloeSurprisingly, everyone kept their distance throughout the day, even Adele. I wonder what Matthew said or done after I left class. He let the question slip by when I asked him earlier on. It must've been epic if Adele is not even sparing me a glance. Oh well, whatever it is, I'm happy it's sorted.
"Chloe, wait!" Jadee huffs as she runs up to me. I plaster a smile on my face and turn around to face her.
Darn it! Just a few more steps and I would've been in the library."Chloe, are you okay? I heard what Adele did to you. I'm so gonna kill her!" She checks my body for any marks and I almost laugh at the absurdness of the moment. She doesn't see the scratch on my face though. Probably because I did such a good job at hiding it. Concealer really comes in handy sometimes.
I nod and motion to my body. "See. I'm totally fine. Nothing's wrong with me."
She puts her hands on her hips and sternly says, "As your best friend, I'm entitled to know how my bestie is actually doing."
I just stare at her with fake amusement. I know I should tell her, but something is holding me back... Maybe if I wait a few days, then I'll be able to tell her.
What if after the few days you still feel like you don't want to tell her, then what?
You just had to point that out, didn't you?
"Point what out?" I look up to a confused gaze.
Did I say that out loud? Oops...
"Nothing. You know me. Talking to myself, as always." I let out a nervous laughter.
Oh gee,Chloe. You couldn't be more obvious!
Oh,shut up!
"What?" I think I should shut up now.
You don't say.
I ignore my crazy subconscious and back away from Jadee.
"You know what, I think I should leave now. See you around, Jadee."Her face falls in disappointment.
"But we-""I know. I just need some alone time." Some? More like alot.
"Okay, I'll call you later."
I nod, knowing full well that I won't be answering her calls any time soon, and enter the library. I go to YA fiction and scroll through each shelf. I need something sad and heartbreaking but with a happy ending. What's novels without happy endings?
Finally! After looking for what feels like hours, I find what I've been looking for. After by Anna Todd. You know what? I'm taking the whole trilogy.
Jadee
"Chloe is such a drama queen. You should've seen her expression when I scratched her," says Adele between fits and giggles.
I slowly breathe in and out to stop myself from laughing.
"She covered it up with concealer. I'm surprised she even knows what it is!""I know, right?" She laughs. "Somehow, she managed to make herself look more uglier with it on!"
I burst out into laughter and nod like a retarded seal. "At least our plan is working. She looks like a fool in front of the whole school now." Hearing that gives me great pleasure...
"Matthew thought he could make me look bad with that silly, little comment. I should actually thank him. The boys are standing in line to date me! " Adele forms her bright, red lips into a pout and pushes out her boobs as if to ask Who wouldn't want me?.
I shake my head in amusement. "Well, do you have the plan in order? "
She gives me an incredulous look. "What do take me for? I'm always ready. Especially, if it includes demolishing Ugly's already nonexistent reputation."
Matthew
When I enter the library, she's the first thing I spot. There's a smile playing on her lips, as per usual. I knew she'd be here. She always hangs out here in the library.
Book fanatics.
As I approach her, her smile turns quickly into a frown. And not because of me. Oh, no. She hasn't even seen me, yet. It's because of something she read in that book of hers. Finally, something she doesn't approve of!
"You're really engrossed in this book," I smile at her.
She looks up at me. "Matthew?" The shock is evident in her voice.
I chuckle. "Yes, it's me. In the flesh. Unless, you're referring to the one in the Bible..."
I'm not even sure she heard me, because she's still staring at me. It almost looks like she is in a trance. Her blue eyes looks so light, it seems as if there's a silver glint in it. I trail my eyes up to her hair. Never have I ever seen such beautiful, chocolate brown hair. It looks so soft, I'm scared if I touch it, it might disintegrate... I'm sure there's a rule that bans such beauty. Well, if I was King, I'd let her be free and keep all the other subjects imprisoned.
And her olive skin looks so smooth...
I suddenly have the urge to touch her.I shake my head to rid me of all those thoughts. If she knew what I was thinking right now, she'd probably run out of the nearest exit.
"So, what brings you here?" She finally managed to recover from her initial shock.
"I..."
You know, it's no use making up a story when you know you can trust her.
I sigh.
"I just wanted to how you are doing." I give her a genuine smile. Not that the previous ones wasn't genuine. This is just more genuine than ever, if that makes any sense.
At this, her face lights up and now I can truly say, her eyes shines ten times more than the stars at night.
She chuckles and arches her beautifully sculpted eyebrows. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Your eyes... It becomes more brighter when you smile," I say truthfully.
Her cheeks turns red and now I feel stupid for making her feel embarrassed.
"I shouldn't have said that.""No, it's alright. It's kind of cute that you notice these small things."
I pout. "You think it's cute?"
She bites her lip and nods in a thoughtful way. "Yeah... I think it's cute."
At that, I'm tied up in her beauty. And I know, now, that I have to do everything in my power to keep that smile on her face and that silver glint in her eyes...
