---------------Chapter 2--------------------
While Jeff was on the gate, his mechanic came up to him and asked what his game plan was for the race. Since Jeff studied the track it changed a lot there was more ruts, and less good lines.great thing they fix the track before halftime, Jeff thought.
When Jeff and all the other riders started there bikes and revved them up, Jeff replayed the moment from his first race and then Jeff was ready. When Jeff nodded his head his mechanic, crowd, and the 30 second border guy, all knew Jeff was ready.
When the 30 board turned sideways the motorcycles revved up loud and the fans cheered louder. This is motocross, Jeff thought. Now waiting for the gate to drop, Jeff was determined, and hopeful.
Then the gate dropped and off they flew. Battling 1 vs 20. Jeff at this point was in 5th, in order to qualify for the main event, Jeff had to get top 3. the only thing was that the leader was 10 seconds ahead. Jeff would really have to push it now.
Flying through the whoops and easily clearing the jumps, Jeff knew he could do it. 2nd lap In the race Jeff had pass 1 person and was gaining on another. now in 4th place with 3 laps to go, his mechanic signed him, "great job keep it up"
Well only Jeff and his mechanic knew that meant speed up, so he did, almost to fast (which is good right?). Jeff passed 2 more people and was in 2nd.
Until Jeff couldn't stop in time to turn and suddenly crashed and got ran over. jumping up quickly, Jeff rushed to pass people to get back.
Sadly Jeff didn't make the position to the main event. Riding back to his trailer to park his bike and talk to his mechanic about the bike. After the short discussion he went to watch a race and study the track for the LCQ(last chance qualifier). which Jeff would have to do better than 2nd to win. luckily the LCQ race was the easiest one.
While in the pits Jeff sat down at his fold up table and had lunch. Cleaning everything up he sat down and signed some autographs. after a while of autographs Jeff went over to help his mechanic work on his bike.
When working on the bike they: put a new back tire in, changed the oil, new break pads, and adjusted the handlebars. now the bike was all set and Jeff could soon go out to race.
He decided to go to the race early to study the track one more time. he noticed that they fixed parts of the track and some corners were rutted badly. Jeff took that all in to mind.
On the gate Jeff took his normal routine and warmed up his bike, than talked to his mechanic about the track and lines.
Then the 30 second boarder guy came out and held up the sign. everyone revved up there bike, and Jeff thought about his first race again as usually. than the board turned sideways and a few seconds later the gate dropped.
