Chapter XII: If Life Was The Way It Was Before

I was still on the raft, yet violently rocking. I gazed around, feeling the air around me boil. I spotted an island, and I jumped off. I figured that I'd be precise, but I felt searing pain from my collarbone to my elbow. I slid off, and fell into the lake of darkness.

Luke
I heard the heart monitor, it was beeping Normally. It began to slow. Panic seared through me, as I ran to Karina. Her face was getting paler. Then it flatlined. I froze, unable to speak a word or move a single muscle.

Then I screamed.

Joel
I was getting some coffee, when I heard a scream. It was Luke, I could tell. I ordered the coffee, and ran towards the room, as fast as I could.

I finally reached the room, seeing the flat line of the monitor. My eyes widened in terror.

Karina
I floated in this muck for a second, and I fought my way out as hard as I could. I pushed myself up, grunting. Then, I felt air on my fingers. I felt my way around, and grabbed a hold of the rock that was near me. I pulled myself up, panting.

I then, stood on the rock, saw a bright light. It shone with such glory, that I was amazed. Then, a lion stepped forwards. I gasped.

"Lord, why am I here?" I asked, with such awe.

"I am here to tell you of one thing. That is, remember this, I will always be with you, and your family. Trust me. I shall go, and lead my people. I always love you, Karina Eve Smallbone." The Lion nuzzled my hand, and I awoke in the real world.

"Oh Karina... We just found you and now we lost you!" I heard Moriah say. I clasped my hand around her wrist, and pulled her in to a hug. She yelped in surprise.

"It's all good. God is good." I claimed. I looked around, but we were alone. "Where's Joel?"

"On the phone, telling the news about your 'death'. Luke's confronting Natalie." She told me softly. She winked at me. "I've an idea, mi chica."

I smiled, despite my arm and my neck pain. I closed my eyes, praying for protection and joy. I felt Joel's hand, and Natalie's hug.

"God is good." I whispered, squeezing his hand. He jumped, screaming, "it's a zombie aarrgh!"

I opened my eyes, and glared at him. "Mind you, I need coke." I sighed. I looked at Natalie, who was frozen next to me, unable to speak. "It's okay, sis."

"You- you said sis?" Luke walked in and saw me. His face went red. I gave him a questioning look. "Alright, alright, how'd you know were ranking you to our daughters?"

I smiled, and told them about my dream and talk with God. I sighed, tapping my fingers on the bed.

If only this didn't happen... One side of me whispered. No, this is happening for a reason. I smiled, thoughtfully.
