When I arrived there was no one there. So I jumped to the water and started swimming . All my worries, all my problems vanished with water.
Thirty minutes after, they started to arrive, but no one came to the water. With a bit of curiosity, I emerged and saw Mr. Carl hugging someone, a boy. Ward. Wait? He’s Carl’s brother. Wow, didn’t see that coming. So he’s going to be my partner?
“Ariel” Mr. Carl called me and I approached them. ”Ward, this is…” Ward interrupted him.
“Ariel” he smiled. “We’ve met in school. Is she going to be my partner?” he asked Carl without leaving my eyes.
“Yes, I hope that’s not a problem” he turned is head towards me.
“Problem, huh. Only if he steps over the line” I said. They smile and I went to the water again.
“What line?” Ward asked.
“Be careful.” I heard Mr. Carl saying to him before we started swimming.
In my head there was a single picture .My mother with that man. I can’t believe it, before telling my dad I have to tell Hans. He’s my brother he has the right to know what’s happening inside our house.
Seeing my mom kissing another man makes me sick. When I realized the class was already over, everybody was leaving but I couldn’t move. Someone called my name but I didn’t saw who was because when I raised my head there was no one there.
I plugged into the water and swam to the bottom of the pool. Down there, without air, I started to cry.
After a while, my lungs screamed. They need air. When I emerged I saw someone sitting in the stairs.
“I was waiting for you” he said. He stood up and I could see his perfect six-pack-hot-body. He came closer and closer to me. Fifty centimeters between our bodies. I couldn’t stare at him so I stared my hands in the water.
“Why were you crying?” he asked. How did he knew I was crying? “What’s going on?” I can’t tell him.
His hand raised my head and I saw concern in his eyes. “Nothing, I have to go” but he grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to him.
“I know something’s wrong. And I know that we just met today, but you can tell me” for some reason I started to cry. I couldn’t let myself cry in front of others, so I dove into the water and hopped he leave me alone.
But that didn’t happen. Instead of running away he took a deep breath and dove. Under water he hugged me and I let him comforted me. He’s warm body against mine made me calm down and stopped crying.
We emerged but he kept hugging me, and I didn’t pull him away. He did.
With both his hands, he grabbed my cheeks and stared at my eyes.
“You have pretty eyes. Blue, my favorite color” I stared at him. Blue is my favorite color too, but I didn’t say it. “Can I drive you home?” he asked.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea” I said pulling him away. We leave the pool and I made my way to the crowds. Before I entered the woman’s crowds he grabbed my hand.
“Why not? It’s just a ride” he said smirking.
“Okay” I said and went to the shower.
Great. I’m in a war against myself. There’s a part of me that tells me that Ward is dangerous and somehow he will hurt me. And there’s this other part that makes me want to be with him. I don’t know what part is right, but I do know that now I’m scared.
“So how’s your brother?” he broke the silence. Since we left the pool we didn’t talk again.
“You know him?” I asked. I’m pretty sure that this morning Hans told me he didn’t know who the new boy was.
“Yeah, Jessica introduced him.” Jessica… How can Hans still seeing her?
“Of course she did!” he noticed my mood changed when he said her name.
“You don’t like her. I can see that” I looked at him. His eyes were emotionless. “What happened with you two?” he asked but I didn’t answered because he pooled over in front of my house.
I looked through the window and I saw someone leaving the house. It was Jason.
He approached Ward’s car and waved us. “You know him?” he asked.
“Unfortunately. Please don’t let him talk to me. ” he smiled and left the car. I was about to open the door but he opened for me.
“Thank you” he smiled again. He was always smiling, I love that in him. Jason called me and I turned my head to him.
“What’s up?” he said “You look pretty tonight” he took a step forward and I took a step back. My back bumped into Ward’s chest.
“Is everything okay?” Ward asked looking at me.
“I’m Jason, Ariel’s ex” Jason extended one hand but Ward didn’t shook it.
“Ward” I call him. “I want to go home, please” I said to him. He looked at me and walked me to the porch.
“Hey Ariel” Jason grabbed my arm and I identified the smell of alcohol and smoke. Before I could escape his lips were on mine. I tried to push him away, but he was too strong for me.
He lift me in the air and started to bite my lips and scratched my neck. At this time my screams and prayers were heard. I could see Ward’s arm surrounding my waist and pulling me away of that monster. But Jason caught Ward and pushed him. We both fell and my head hit the floor so hard that all I could see was water.
Water everywhere, and I was swimming, and swimming. Until I heard a voice.
“Ariel, can you hear me? Ariel…”
“Hey, leave my sister alone” I heard another voice.
Ariel. Ariel. Ariel
That name annoyed me. Ariel… I started to hate that name. Ariel! Come back to me.
But I didn’t. I fall asleep with the water.
