 "I'm sorry"

The next days are hard to deal with. After Ward spilling his guts out about his father he became a colder guy. I thought at first it was because it's raining all the time and raining in this hideous city is awful, but now I don't think that's the problem. That day, when we finished the swimming class Ward drove me home but before I got out of the car he said after all the silence:

"Just don't tell anyone, please" his face was hard, like if some rock had hit him.

"I would never, you know that" I said opening the door and getting out of the car, shooting it behind me. But before I realized Ward was walking me to the porch without saying a word, and this silence was killing me. I know he wanted to say something but he doesn't, he just stood there walking and looking down

to the grass "What is it?" I finally asked, making him look up at me.

"You. You are happening, and this is dangerous for you. I can't do this, this was a mistake. I'm sorry" and with that he leaves me there, alone in the porch of my house without even say goodbye to me. That was strange. And since then I can only catch him at school or in practice and even though he talks to me it seems he wants distance.

A week later I'm confronted with the thought that he doesn't want to be friends anymore, during that week all he said was good morning and good night, he didn't even asked me how was freaking school. I tried to expand our conversations but he used excuses like I'm tired or my brother is calling me. Well guess what? I am tired. And for now on I'm going to keep my mind focused on school and nothing more. Yeah right. And what was that all about, that this was a mistake, what? I was the mistake, or he spilling is demons out to me was the mistake. Jeez...

I was currently closing my locker when Jonathan comes to me with a big smile on his face.

"We, my sweet girl, are going out tonight" he says grabbing me bag and walking to the other side so I could close the locker and head to the exit door of the school.

"No." I say taking my bag off Jonathan's shoulder "I have practice today and then I'm just going to home watch the new episode of How to Get Away with Murder" and with that I reach the parking lot and see my brother near his car.

"Ariel, please, you need to go out" Jonathan catches me, blocking my way to my brother "You need to distract yourself. You've been so serious all week" he stats.

"Exams..."

"And now exams are over and there's this party..." and with that I saw more than just my friend trying to help me.

"You're after a girl" I say and Jonathan smirks "I knew it, you little bastard" I say passing by him, but before I could walk away he grabs my arm and turns me around so I could face him.

"I'm sorry, but she's really special and I need you to come to the party, please" he smile and begs making people stare at us "Please Ariel" he begs again, his eyes expecting my answer.

"But why do you need me there?"

"I need you to make me company" he says smiling and he's eyes begging and waiting inpatient for my response.

"Okay, meet me at my house at 11pm" I say rolling my eyes and maybe regretting my decision later. Jonathan thanks me and turns on his heel and when he does that I notice Ward coming over, so I do exactly he did to me during this week. I look him in the eye and turn my back at him making my way to my brother's car.
