A few days had gone by and Jonah and I continued to talk a little bit. Lana had only been over once since the time I met her. Laura told me she was coming over today. Every time I thought about how I actually had a friend, I filled with excitement. I got dressed and did my makeup, making sure I looked presentable. I heard Laura's car pull into the driveway. Looking down, I smoothed my shirt one last time before walking downstairs.
When I got downstairs I saw Lana, one of the only friends I have ever had. I had a friend when I was younger, we were like sisters. I was friends with her before my mom became famous, my mom kept me out of the spotlight, and out of public. She made us move far away and I couldn't keep in touch with her anymore. It made me depressed for a long time. To this day I still wish I could have kept contact with her. Her name was Finleigh, what made her unique was her love of music when she was as young as she was. My thoughts were cut off by Lana. "Hey Sophia" she said with a smile plastered across her face.
I smiled back at her and walked over to the couch where she was sitting. "Hey Lana" I sat down next to her and we flipped through Netflix, trying to find a show to watch. Laura came into the room to tell us that we had a little over two hours before my mom got home. I thanked her and she left the room.
Lana and I ended up going upstairs to my room instead of watching anything. I shut my door after we both walked in. She walked around my room for a few minutes just looking. I realized that she's never been in here before. We'd only hung out in the kitchen or living room before. "Your room is so cute Soph" soph? Did she just give me a nickname? I knew it was probably nothing but I couldn't help but smile like an idiot. Nobody had ever given me a nickname before, I was just Sophia. I sat down on my bed and heard the light buzz of my phone. Lana must have heard it too because she turned around and gave me a weird look. "Was that a phone? I thought you weren't allowed to have one"
"Oh, um yeah. Promise you won't tell?" I asked her nervously.
"I'd never try and get you in trouble, we're friends" she reassured me. I dug my phone out from behind my bed and showed her. "How'd you even get this anyway?" She asked me curiously. "I snuck out once" I said and told her the whole story. She just listened and occasionally nodded. I turned my phone on to see that Jonah had texted me.
"Who's that?"
"A friend"
"I thought you didn't have any?"
"Oh it's a funny story, I texted a random number the other day and they texted back, and now we're friends I guess"
"That's dangerous, do you know anything about them?"
"His name is Jonah"
"Is that all you know? He could be dangerous soph. I know we just met but I don't want you to get hurt"
"He said he's 19"
"Have you ever seen a picture of him?" I could tell she was starting to get frustrated.
"No" I looked down at my feet. It sounded so stupid now.
"I don't think you should talk to him anymore, I'm not trying to be mean but I don't want something bad to happen to you"
"I get it, I do. I'll ask him to FaceTime and we can see if he's an old man" I laughed. I pressed the FaceTime button and waited as it rang. Finally it said connecting and a brown haired boy popped onto my screen. I looked over at Lana and saw her shocked wide eyed face. Did they know each other?
"Jonah!?"
"Lana?!"
