I heard my moms car pull up in the driveway, which was weird because she wasn't supposed to be home for a few hours. I furrowed my eyebrows and hid my phone in its usual place, behind my bed. I slipped on a sweater and headed downstairs to greet her. "Hey Mom" I smiled. She gave me a small smile back and headed to her room. "Where are you going?" I asked, confused.
"They moved filming to Aruba for a week, I have to leave in a few hours" she said nonchalantly as she climbed the stairs, not even bothering to glance back at me.
"But thanksgiving!" I cried, sounding more dramatic than I intended to.
"What about it?" She looked back at me and raised an eyebrow.
"It's in two days..you promised you'd be here" I looked down at my feet, trying not to show any more emotion. She hated it when I showed any emotion. It made me angry that she wasn't going to be here this year, I'd just have to spend another year alone. Laura always got the day off and for the past two years I've been completely alone on Thanksgiving and Christmas. "Get over it" She said before walking up the remaining two stairs and going to her bedroom.
I crossed my arms and began to walk to the kitchen. I took an apple out of the fridge and played with it for a minute. I stood up from my chair and went to the back door. I opened it and chucked the apple as far as I could, not caring where it went. There was a race of emotions swirling around in my head. I closed the back door and sat at the edge of the pool, dipping my feet in. I splashed my feet around for a moment before the back door opened and Ollie came running into my arms. I looked up to see Laura standing in the doorway. "How about Lana and I have thanksgiving here, with you?" She smiled. A slow smile spread across my face and I jumped up and hugged her. I started to cry in her arms. I felt relief and happiness wash over as she embraced me. I was finally going to have someone with me for thanksgiving again.
Third person pov
As they hugged Sophia knew this was a sign that things were going to get better, much better. This past month had been more amazing than anything. She now smiled constantly thinking about how things were looking up. She didn't slump around on the couch all day anymore, she'd been more active and started swimming laps in her pool every morning after her workout. Laura had noticed a significant change in Sophia after she had met Lana. The two girls had grown closer and closer and you might could even call them best friends now. Sophia talked to Jonah almost daily still too. Her heard skipped a beat every time he texted her, she was falling for him. Little did she know that he was falling for her too..
