The water cups fall from my hands as I run to the nursery. I hear the cry of Andi as I'm running back into the room with Ria. The sight I see when I get into the room makes me want to cry and scream. The only word that escapes my lips was almost a whisper.
"Why?"
I can't even begin to process what I'm seeing. Andi has been placed in the crib again, and Kati's arm has a purple color on it. She's crying and freaking out as I run over to her. She screams in pain and collapses to the floor in a mess of vomit and clothes.
With no running water, massive solar flares, no parents, and a baby to take care of, I'm beginning to wonder how long we'll all last in this whole ordeal. When Kati finally stops writhing I turn her face towards mine and her eyes are completely bloodshot. Her lips are cracked and she's got an evil grin on her face. She grabs my hand whispers, "I love you Ria," before standing up and walking to the bathroom.
I stand there completely dumbfounded until I hear Andi cry again and I move to get him.
