The party is in full swing. I'm in the dining room drinking cup after cup of whatever it is that Jasper keeps handing me.
"Sick party Ches!!" The words slur out of Aaron's mouth while he hooks an arm around me, then doing the same to Jasper. "I love you guys, why don't we hang out more?"
"It's because you're a drunk that always end up in jail after a party." It's strange hearing such harsh words come from someone as small as Lillie. "Jasper it's getting late and I feel like I might throw up. Let's leave?" Lillie slips her arm around Jasper's waist.
"Lillie, go be someone else's buzzkill. Jasper doesn't want to leave yet." Aaron throws his arm back around Jasper's shoulders. With Lillie giving him her harshest death stare, I quickly pull Aaron closer to me allowing the couple to leave like they wanted.
"Aaron calm down. How about you and me go see what there is to drink in the kitchen?"
"Chester, what do you think I am some kind of cheap date?" He crosses his arms "Trying to buy me with booze, you should be ashamed of yourself." I begin to walk away from him and toward the drinks, only to turn around and find Aaron following me.
"I see you decided to go with the drinks huh?" Aaron begins to blush, although, I can't tell if he's embarrassed or if it's because he's drunk.
"Oh don't be a prick. I'm only here because Tanya said something has been up with you." In that moment, it sounded as if he sobered up pretty quick. I turn to the direction of the living room scanning it for tanya. After a plethora of faces I couldn't put names to, my eyes landed on her. She was dancing with a group of girls. They all had their arms in the air while their hips swayed to the bass of her party playlist. She was doing all of this for me, and I was acting as if I didn't care. Focusing back on Aaron I decide to make the most of tonight, my night. I slide a shot of the first thing I could find, over to him and a devilish smirk works its way across his lips. He is now slurring again.
"No chaser?" he lifts the shot and waits for me to respond. I tape my glass to his and cheers to the click noise. Arron favorite noise. I smile and say, "Be a man." We shoot the shots as fast as we can. I try to focus on Aaron's blues eyes to distract me, but all I notice is the burning in my throat, nose, and now stomach. My face tries to turn in on itself. I squeeze my eyes shut while scrunching up my nose, waiting for the taste to go away.
Shot after shot I begin to unwind more and more. I turn to where Tanya was once dancing, but she is nowhere to be found.
I've had so many drinks that I've lost count. I'm tripping over my own feet, that may be because the room is spinning. The music is now louder than ever. I feel it in me, it's pumping my blood the way my heart should. More and more people start to leave. Others fall asleep in random spots around the house. Making it to my room is the hard part, but I do it; all while missing the occasional step of course. Our bedroom door is cracked and all of the lights are off. The only source of light is the streetlight shining through the slit in the curtain. I look over to the bed and see Tanya both arms stretched out in one of my old band tees that I bought at a concert we went to. She's beautiful. The bed dips in when I lay down and she instinctively rolls into me. I wrap my arms around her and close my eyes.Within minutes I'm out.
Author's note:
So this is a piece I started (and kinda finished) in my senior year of high school. I want it to turn into something much bigger than it is now, but I want to get a reaction to the concept before pouring my blood, sweat, and tears (literally) into this book. I am really hoping to get feedback on this and turn it into something much longer for you guys. Thank you for reading!!
