It's been two weeks since I found Apollo dead, and Tanya is acting like she's perfectly okay. Like she's fine.

"Hey Chester," I flinch as she places her hand on my shoulder. "You've been sitting at that desk all morning.

"I can't sleep." I begin rubbing my temples, "I can't sleep. I'm going to get some air."

"Okay." Her hand slips off of my shoulder and I go onto the porch and close my eyes. When I reopen them just as a car is turning onto our street. The car gets closer and closer and I start to  notice Aaron is the one driving. The car is getting closer and I begin waving to him. Something is wrong. In that very moment Aarong turns his head and I can't look away from his eyes. They've gone blood red. In an instant he blinks and the blues are back where they once were. Aaron waves at me, but all I can do is run back into the house to find, and tell, Tanya.

"Tanya!" racing up the stairs I can here a faucet running. "Tanya?" As I continue walking, the sound of the flowing water grows closer and closer. Opening the door to our bedroom, it becomes clear that the water is coming from our bathroom. From the doorway I can see that the bathroom door is open, and Tanya's shadow is dancing on the bedroom floor right outside. I walk over to the bathroom and peeking my head in. My head flies out of there faster than it went in. Am I going crazy? What I just saw wasn't Tanya. It was some horrid beast from the depths of Hell. Her skin was pale grey and her eyes were a sick yellow. The hollows of her eyes had sunken in, so much farther than they usually did after a long night of no sleep.

I sit outside the door shaking. What can I do?

    "Chester? Is that you?

I stand up and try to sound calm. "Yea, I  was just coming up to tell you that I was going out," I have to keep my  voice steady. "what do you want for dinner?" I wipe the sweat from my forehead and wait for her to respond. I jump when I see her come out of the bathroom.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" she giggles while dabbing  her face with a towel.

"What? No. I just thought that you would be in there longer than you were." She looks at me in disbelief.

"Well  I was thinking burgers for dinner? Maybe fries?" She drops the towel and walks toward me.

"Yeah, no problem. Burgers sound great. I'll be right back." She leans into  kiss me and I panic. I can't come forward and tell her what  I saw; she'd never believe me. Leaning slightly to left  while she leans to the right, I kiss her cheek and she looks at me confused.

"Yeah okay. I'll see you when you get back." When Tanya finishes speaking, she turns and goes back to the bathroom.

I sprint down the stairs and out the door. Getting into the car, I drive around the corner and park. That is where I sit and think about everything that's happened these past couple of days.

Author's note:

So this is a piece I started (and kinda finished) in my senior year of high school. I want it to turn into something much bigger than it is now, but I want to get a reaction to the concept before pouring my blood, sweat, and tears (literally) into this book. I am really hoping to get feedback on this and turn it into something much longer for you guys. Thank you for reading!!
