"Hi Jessie, I'm chief Hopper, can you tell me what you remember?" Hopper asked softly as he sat in a chair next to her bed, looking at her as she stared at her lap, "I want to see El." She whispered, not removing her gaze from the blankets as Hopper sighed, "I'm sorry Jessie, but I can't do that. I don't know where your friend is. But maybe you could tell me?" He asked, and in an instant, the door to her hospital room slammed shut, and the lock clicked, Hopper looked at her nervously as blood trickled from her nose, "I want to see El."
Ten minutes later Hopper was standing outside her hospital room, talking with the nurses as Jessie waited patiently, but as she listened into the conversation and overheard the words, 'lock down.' She realized that Hopper wasn't going to help her. While they were distracted, Jessie hurriedly stood up, and ripped the IV from her arm, before sending a table flying at the door, and blocking it off, she heard the adults beating against the door but ignored it, without a second thought, she busted the window, and leaped out, luckily she had shorts on underneath her hospital gown, and gracefully slid through the air from the top floor, she quickly slid a flower stand over, and leveled herself out, falling onto the tarp, and straight through, the fall was rough, but she knew she'd have to get away as fast as possible, no doubt they'd heard the window break and we're about to come running out of the hospital doors. She shook her arm trying to ignore the ache, and quickly rounded a corner, breathing heavily as she shakily looked around, watching as a taxi pulled up, and the driver parked it, but before he could do anything else, his car door flew open, and he toppled out onto the gravel, allowing Jessie to take his place in the drivers seat, the car door swung shut and locked itself before the driver could even get off the ground as the seat belt slithered it's way across Jessie's chest, and buckled itself. Jessie started the car, and turned, winking at the flabbergasted driver, before speeding off down the road, headed to the only place she knew she could go.
The yellow tape stood out like a camel in a pig pen, did the police have to make it so obvious what had happened in that restaurant? Ignoring the 'do not enter' sign, Jessie made the door fly open, and stormed in, she had a limp in her step, and wasn't able to bend her left knee, but aside from that, she walked perfectly fine. She walked straight past the blood stained table, ignoring the tears stinging her eyes, she just needed clothes, that was it, then she would leave. Clearing her throat to dismiss the lump, she headed straight to where her bedroom was, ignoring the pictures of her and her father that hung on the wall, ignoring the mural she had painted with him when she was barely five, clothes. That was it, that was all she needed, then she would leave. She knew she had to leave soon, she left the taxi a mile back, but the police would know this is where she would go, so with that thought in mind, she walked over to her dresser and slid the drawers open.
Ten minutes later she was crawling out her back window, a backpack full of everything she'd need slung over her right shoulder as she snuck into the woods, she needed to find Eleven, she needed to find answers, her combat boots made her escape noisy, but otherwise quick, she groaned and cursed under her breath as her cast made her unable to bend her knee, she felt like an idiot, but kept walking, it's not like she intended for this to happen, or asked the car to hit her, you can't escape the inevitable, that just wasn't a good day, that was all, but she needed to find her friends, even if it was the last thing she did.
With no other ideas, after searching all their houses, and everywhere she could, she took her last hope, and walked into the school, she kept her head down, and tried to hide her limp as much as she could, trying to stay out of whoever's eye sight she could, if she knew anything about those boys, she knew her safest bet would be the AV lab, she went straight there, and was relieved to see all four of them standing next to the radio, as El concentrated, the boys looked up, and were shocked to see her, and she giggled as Lucas covered Dustin's mouth before he could say anything to her, she knew they had to be quiet for El. She walked over to them, and Dustin awkwardly hugged her, but smiled shamelessly as she hugged him back, "what's she doing?" Jessie whispered, "looking for Will." Dustin responded, and she nodded, watching Eleven hesitantly as she glanced over at Dustin, before yelling in shock when the AV set caught on fire, "we need to leave." Mike said hurriedly, they grabbed on to El, and began leaving, seeing how she was limping, Dustin reached over, and helped her run, she thanked him softly, and glanced at the others running alongside them, before taking Dustin's hand in hers, she looked at Eleven nervously once more, before walking ahead of the others with Dustin to get El somewhere safe.
