It lasted longer than she expected. It started with the harmless rumours- grew into tripping and snickering. Grew even more into verbal abuse and seemingly platonic touches, which were putting her out if ease. And it was all starting to take a tole on Marinette. It started a couple months ago. A new kid named Jason started going to her school. He... Wasn't so nice. On his first day he started a rumor of Marinette eating gum off the bottoms of the bleachers. Everyone apparently heard about it except her. Later that week some students started sticking chewed gum onto the outside of her locker. It was so embarrassing- but she got it all off without Alya knowing and ignored her fellow students' snickering, smiling bright all day.
Now- she doesn't find herself smiling as she's sitting at lunch, Alya in the bathroom while Jason sits in front of her with a devious smirk. "What? Not hungry? That's probably good- looks like someone needs to digest their croissants before eating anything else for a while. I wouldn't blame you if you were starving yourself. No one likes a fat girl." He said, when Mari sat, moving her food around with her fork for what she was pretty sure was a couple minutes.
She inhaled deeply and avoided eye contact, pretending as if he weren't even there.
She saw out of the corner of her eye that Jason was now frowning mockingly. "I'm sorry- did I hurt your feelings?" He asked with a fake pout. "How could I ever make it up to you?"
Mari lifted her gaze without moving her head and looked at him through her eyelashes. "Going away might do it." She grumbled.
He was smirking again and moved to sit beside her.
"Yeah. That's not leaving." She said, avoiding eye contact."It's not?" He asked in pretend shock.
Mari huffed and got out of her seat and sat in another. Picking at her food with her fork again, she avoided him, head facing the floor and stone hard expression on her face.
He got up again and moved beside her, this time, looking her in the eyes softly as he moved a strand of her hair out of her face. Marinette shuddered at the touch and she leaned away. "Leave me alone." She said in an icy tone.
He smirked and continued to watch her as she continued to fidget uncomfortably. She felt so alone in a room full of people and she looked around, wondering where in the world Alya could be.

Unbeknownst to her, Adrien was watching the two from a couple tables over. He squinted at the boy out of spite- it didn't take an expert to read their body language and he knew he was making Marinette uncomfortable. He watched the two as they exchanged little words, and his heart went out for Marinette as he watched her fiddle with the ends of her skirt out of sight of the boy. He had to wonder where Alya was and why in the world she'd leave her best friend with such a character.

The boy scooted over to Marientte again, an overconfident grin spread on his face and he put an arm around her, pulling her towards him. "You don't have to be so worried you know." He whispered in her ear.
She tried to lean away from him, but his arm held a strong hold on her."What do you want?" She asked, her words with a forced relaxed tone as she continued her subtle attempt at retreat.
"Simply your time, marry berry." He replied, Twisting a strand of her hair around his finger.
