Amnesty's P.O.V
Sitting on the steps in front of the apartment, I stared down at the empty page of my journal. Nothing came to mind as I tried to express my feelings about this move. Dad paced in front of me, on the phone with Tanner talking about what was going to happen when we got down there. From the tone of his voice they were having another argument. Even though Tanner was the one who suggested that we all move down there he was currently telling Dad that we should stay up in New York."I'll see you in a few hours." Dad interrupted, "Love you." He quickly spoke before hanging up the phone.
Looking up at him he already seemed frustrated and we hadn't even started driving yet. Putting down my journal I stood up and gave him a tight hug, "Don't worry, Dad. Everything is going to work out. You just wait and see."
"Thanks, Blue." He patted my back, "Can you run inside and see what is taking your sister so long? I'm gonna try to make more room in the truck."
Pulling away I ran up into the building and into our apartment. Amethyst was just slowly walking through each of the two bedrooms and throughout the rest of the small apartment. Leaning against the wall I watched her for a few moments.
"Do you ever think we'll come back?" She questioned me, "Or do you think this Virginia thing is going to be our new permanent residence?"
I shrugged, "I'm not really sure. If that is what Dad wants then I guess it'll become our permanent residence."
She rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Of course you are just going to roll on your back and do whatever he wants you to do. Can you never just stick up for what you want, Amnesty? Why must you always be a goody-two-shoes?"
"Shut up." Was all I could respond with.
Once again she rolled her eyes and continued walking around the apartment. Looking around myself I realized how much this little place really meant to me. It wasn't just a roof over my head. There were thousands of memories that couldn't be thrown away because of some guy that my Dad was claiming to love. Memories like these weren't something that you could just reproduce over and over again. They're once in a lifetime type of memories.
"Come on, Jewel." I shook my head, "Dad's waiting on you so that we can get on the road. He's getting really impatient since he just got off the phone with Tanner."
Together we rolled our eyes at the mention of Dad's boyfriend. Neither of us like him because Tanner isn't really family orientated. When he comes over, he occupies all of Dad's time nad keeps him locked up in his bedroom. He's never tried to hold a conversation with Amethyst or I and he doesn't even attempted to get our names correct if he does talk to us. All around Tanner is a terrible guy that we knew wasn't good enough to be with our father.
Amethyst wrapped her arm through mine and together we walked back out to the sidewalk. Climbing into the truck, I was sat in the middle of Dad and her. Putting on my music I wasn't planning on really talking this whole trip. I didn't really feel like I had to since this wasn't my decision and I was extremely mad about it. Once Dad got into the driver's seat we headed out of the city. As we drove away from the city, I watched it slowly disappear behind us. I watched the memories grow smaller. We were leaving behind everything that was held close to my heart. Leaving behind the fourth member of my family.
"Don't look so sad, girls." Dad spoke, "You'll both really like Virginia. People are gonna be nicer down there. Things are gong to be better down there. I can honestly promise you that much."
Rolling my eyes I turned up my music. That was really the only reason Dad let us to have phones. For music and in case he needed to get in contact with us for some reason. Not that there could possibly be any other reasons because neither of us had any friends. We didn't even have any type of social media. Dad always claimed that we were just too young and vulnerable to be doing things like that.
