Neville gulped several times, his body shaking with fury and pain. 'They took her, and there was nothing we could do. I'm so sorry; Y/N, Ginny! So sorry that it happened! The guilt of it is killing me! I should have fought- how could I let them take her away like that?' His angry outburst was succeded by several moments of silence. Ginny looked completely horrified. I could not find words to express my indignation and sorrow. We both stared at each other until Neville finally let out a great hacking cough. His voice had been choked by the tears he couldn't let out. Ginny seemed to have lost control- her eyes had glazed over, and her hands trembled. She rested her head on my shoulder, finally letting out a sob. 'I can't believe it! Why? Why Luna? It's so- it's so bloody unfair!'
A tear trickled down my arm- Ginny had finally given in to crying, the activity which she so despised. My own breath wouldn't come- I felt like there was no air in the world.
Ginny and I had stayed back during Christmas, mostly because our parents hadn't wanted us to come home. The were all working for the Order and did not want to involve us in those matters. Neville and Luna had left, though little did I know it would be the last time I would see her in school. According to Neville's accounts, a couple of Death Eaters had stopped the Express midway, taking away Luna and fighting the others who protested. Luna had yelled a last few words to Neville- 'We won't let them get us down!' at which she was immediately silenced by a spell. The train started again before Neville could gather more people and fight them. He had returned to Hogwarts, dragging himself along and looking like a wreck.
Luna had been such a great friend- a rock for us to lean on when we felt down. She was someone reliable, loyal, and undeniably sweet. I was already missing Luna terribly. I knew why she had been taken away. They didn't like her dad's ideas and his propagation of them. Hence to threaten him, Luna had been taken away; where, we hadn't a clue. 'But listen-' I began, my voice choked with emotion.
'Wherever she is, she wouldn't like to see us crying and giving up. We need to continue, for her. She is so much more stronger, you know that. Our lives do have a purpose now, we're revolting against injustice, the horrible things that happen to innocent people like Luna; when we get out of school, we know what's to be done.'
Ginny looked at me, her tear-filled eyes looking for some solace in mine.
'You're right, Y/N. She's strong, we are strong, we will make it' she said, dabbing her eyes.
'Together' said Neville, holding our hands.
'Together' Ginny and I said. There was nothing more to be said. Karma was calling.
