After a week of school guidance counselor meetings and prepping, all my documents were transferred to Fawndale High. I got here, as the counselor said, "just in time for the new school year." School starts tomorrow.
You'd think I'd be stressed, right? Nope. I don't plan on talking to anyone or making any friends. I am not letting anyone else get close to me just to end up hurting me.
As I lay in bed deciding whether to go back to sleep or get up, I hear a knock on the wall. The wall? Another knock. I get up, walking to the wall that faces the outside.
I put my hand against it, running it against the wall. A square area sticks out more than the rest. I put some pressure on it and try to slide it. That doesn't work, so I slide it the other way, and it moves.
There is a hidden window, and a silver-winged creature- man?- is standing on a tree limb right beside the window, parallel to the house.
He knocked again. Slowly, I undid the latch and slid the window up. He tried to come in, but I blocked his way. "Let me in."
"Who are you?"
He smirked. "I am Nicolai Alatus." He acted as if that would explain everything.
"Are those.. wings?" I asked, pointing to the seemingly metallic appendages on his back. His eyes were completely gray, almost silver.
He nodded. I noticed that his hair was metallic as well. "You are coming with me."
"No." I said, my voice quavering slightly.
He moved as if to grab me, so I shoved him. Hard.
He fell off the limb and hit the ground. A few seconds later, I saw a whirl of metal and flesh fly up from the ground and soar away.
I quickly shut and locked the window, sliding the panel back into place. I laid down in my bed, but sleep eluded me. All I could think of was those large metallic wings.
