*3 hours later*

Siting on a plane for 8 hours isn't what I call very fun. For the first 2 hours I read 'Romeo and Juliet'. I've always admired this book for their romantic tragedy called love. I also felt like it related to my parents and how much they loved each other.

*Flashback, 2 years ago*

"Mom, where do you want the rolls?" I asked helping her set the table for dinner, something that we've done for forever.

"Set them in the center." she pointed while finishing up the main dish.

We finished setting the table, and waited for my dad to get home from work. He was more than 30 minutes late which made my mom a little worried, considering he is a cop. Being a cop is a risky job, and my dad knew that. But he liked the thought of being a hero to other people and protecting us. The sound of the phone interrupted my thoughts bringing me back to reality.

"Hello?" my mother answered picking it up..

I picked at my roll watching my mom as all the color in her face drained. I stood to my feet and walked over to her.

"Thank you for letting me know, we will be right over." she hung up the phone and stared at the wall with a blank face.

"Mom?" I asked, "mom?" I repeated. "Please answer! what is it?"

"Y-your father. He's been shot" one single year fell from her face as she grabbed the keys and we drove to the hospital.

We were both silent the whole way there. The only sound was our muffled crying and the rain hitting the window. All I was thinking was he has to be okay, and he won't die.

We ran into the hospital asking for the room number. "Jeff White?!" My mom spoke panicked.

"Room 273" the nurse answered.

My vision blurred from all the tears running down my face. The first thing my mom did was run to his side and hold his hand repeating everything she said. "Jeff, don't leave me. You're m-my forever. Stay strong. Hold on! please you can't leave us."

I rushed to her side crying. We watched the monitor as his heartbeat came back to life.

*End of Flashback*

"Kelsie, honey?" My mom tapped me. "You ok dear?"

I nodded my head, wiping the tears away, and turning to look back out the window. Listening to music I slowly fell asleep, draining out my thoughts.

When I woke up the plane attendant was announcing that we would be landing in the next 10 minutes. I put up the table tray, and put my stuff under the seat making sure we were ready. I watched out the window as the city lights lit up around us. I never noticed how beautiful the city looks at night until now coming down to land.

After getting our luggage and catching a cab we arrived at the 'Montcalm' , our hotel for the night. We settled in going to bed without one word to the other the rest of the night.
