It's A Damn Cold Night.

The weeks seem to fly by but you're still stepping on eggshells all day, everyday and it sucks. But it's all for a good cause, you're leaving this place with a little sister, no matter how much of an ass-kisser it may make you look.

You spend the days with Baby 5, keeping her company, playing with her and helping her do a few chores so that Linlin will sing your praises to your father.

When night hits, you wait for Baby 5 to fall asleep then you sneak out and make your way to the barn to see how Bepo's doing, you usually run into Law along the way also. He seems like he's starting to trust in you a little now, you haven't told anyone about the little fellow and you even help pay for the dog food since you've got the bank of dad to rely on whereas Law has to work his ass off for a bit of cash.

Tonight has been a real pain though, you've slipped on loads of ice since it's rolling onto winter time and there's frost beginning to set. You've had to wear a thick fur coat just to keep you from shivering like crazy.

Hey, the barn light is on so Law must be here already.

However, your face drops when you hear Bepo crying on the other side of the door, all kinds of awful scenarios playing out in your head as you essentially blast through the wooden doors.

If anyone is hurting that dog--!

Your thoughts coming to a complete halt as you see Law inside, he's cuddling Bepo close to his chest as the little guy cries out. Your brows knitting together in confusion as you calmly approach the pair, closing the doors behind you.

"Is he okay? What's wrong with him??"

Law's eyes looking painfully hopeless as they glance up at you, he's clearly trying to look brave but you can see that his heart is aching for his little companion. "He's cold..." Is all the boy murmurs, a sigh leaving his lips as the small yelps continue. "It's too much for a puppy to take..."

Without a seconds hesitation you unzip your coat, practically ripping it off before handing it to Law, urging him to wrap your new little friend up in it. You're aware that it's just a temporary fix though and that it'll get colder, it's only the very start of winter after all.

Shit...

"What the hell are you doing?!" Law questions with a bit of spite in his tone, his grey orbs flickering from your coat to your face. "You'll freeze out here, you dumbass!"

You're sticking to your guns though, a frown etching into your features as you cross your arms over your chest, tensing your muscles as much as you possibly can to stop yourself from shivering. "It won't kill me, but it will kill Bepo if you leave him like that." Good thing Law's a smart guy and knows that you're a stubborn one, the raven giving you a pointed look but deciding to wrap the pup up nonetheless.

I'm glad this guy isn't the type to waste time and breath trying to argue with me.

You stare at the two for a minute, Bepo seeming to have settled down a little since being wrapped in your coat and Law burying his face into the dog's fur, his eyes still looking helpless though. He's thinking the same thing as you, he's thinking ahead of time.

That little guy will die in here...

"Does Drake know about him?" You ask sheepishly, you're trying to see if you can possibly convince Law to sneak him into the orphanage for shelter but your heart sinks when the raven subtly shakes his head. "You need to find another place to keep him, somewhere warmer!"

"I know..."

Silence fills the barn again as you try to think hard on what to do, an idea coming to mind but you just know that Law isn't going to like it. However, you're struggling to think of any other options.
