I swear nobody in this town ever shuts up...
Looking all around me, I attempt to locate the source of the whispery voice. I see no one and choose to believe that it's just my imagination. I decide to carry on my merry way, heading off to some place called Nookling Junction....... What a weird name.
"ẘѦʝ†! η◎† †ℌѦ† ẘѦ¥! ʝ'м ◎ṽ℮ґ ℌ℮ґ℮! ﹩◎ґґ¥, ʝ кη◎ẘ ʝ†'﹩ ¢◎ηḟʊ﹩ʝηℊ..."
I flinch, this definitely wasn't my imagination. Turning first to the right then to the left, I wander aimlessly. I can't seem to locate where the voice is coming from, so the being behind the voice will hopefully continue to guide me. If not, tough luck. I'll just head to the store, whatever.
"¥℮﹩, †ℌѦ†'﹩ ґʝℊℌ†! †ℌʝ﹩ ẘѦ¥! ﹩◎ґґ¥ †◎ ♭◎†ℌ℮ґ ¥◎ʊ ℓʝк℮ †ℌʝ﹩..."
Aha! This way then...
I walk in what I think is a straight line, making my way onto the ramp down to the beach. There's a dull poof on the ground just next to the ramp where a silver lamp has spontaneously appeared. Somehow, I am unsurprised. Probably because I'm tired and just woke up for the day... Ignoring what the voice from the lamp is telling me, I pick it up and take it into my house. Yes. My house. The one that was build around and under me in one night. Needless to say, I was terrified when I woke up. I thought somebody had kidnapped me or something. Anyway—
I set the lamp in my house, frown, and leave it. I'm still busy, so I'll deal with it later. On to the shop...
This looks like a big outhouse...
I'm hesitant to even touch the knob of the door, it just seems to grimey... Maybe my rich-kid senses are kicking in. With a mild look of disgust, I grab the knob and open the incredibly rickety door. Another bell on this door. I walk into be immediately talked to in the most ear-splitting, squeaky child voice I've ever heard.
"Welcome! Welcome! ᶜᴼᴹᴱ ᴼᴺ ᴵᴺ! What's this! Could it be this is your first time in our humble establishment?"
'Our'? There are more of you..?
"Our store sells a variety of furniture and useful goods for daily living! As you can see, it's a rather teeny shop,..."
Pfft.
"...but please relax and enjoy shopping! ᵀᴬᴷᴱ ᵞᴼᵁᴿ ᵀᴵᴹᴱ!"
I nod in recognition and slowly make my way around the shop, checking out the wares.
An old shovel, a dingy net... Some weird space-looking lamp and a rickety old chair...
I approach a longer table lining the wall, an eyebrow raised in mild interest. Paper, wrapping paper, and what looks like a fortune cookie. I furrow my brow and stare down the paper. It's striped paper, green and yellow. My and my mom's favorite colors. I smile very slightly......then frown at my interruption.
"Ah, some lemon-lime paper! A fine item, yes? It comes in a set of four sheets for 160 Bells. Are you interested in purchasing a set?"
So direct...
"Uh.. Sure..."
I sift through my pocket and feel around, grabbing what I assume is the right change and hand it over. You get used to feeling the bells. They feel and mostly look the same, but they aren't.
"Thank you kindly for your purchase! Yes, thank you for the 160 Bells! ˢᴼ ˢᴴᴵᴺᵞ!"
Nearly heading out the door, I backtrack to the rickety chair. Before the kid who-I-have-no-idea-why-he's-allowed-to-run-a-store-at-his-age can give me his spiel, I turn to his stalker-self with a blank look.
"How much for the old-looking chair..?"
"Er.. The price is 800 Bells. Are..you interested? ..in this item?"
I fork over another 800 bells to the kid, shove the chair in my pocket, and head out. I hope to never have to go in there again.
