TFIL: One Shots of Joy

#Corby : Sunshine

Colby woke up in the embrace of his boyfriend of 8 months.

The two had a rough night, not sexual or anything, but they decided to adopt a blonde lab.

However, this extraordinarily adorable dog wouldn't let Colby sleep at all. It demanded so much attention from just him, completely ignoring his other father.

He woke up to a familiar smell and warmth on his face and sighed with relief. He nuzzled deeper into the feeling and smiled softly, falling back to sleep.

At least until a familiar puppy of 5 months hopped onto his side of the bed and whined in his ear.

He groaned and nuzzled deeper into Corey's chest hearing the other man giggle.

"Baby, wake up."

The brunette sighed and sat up on his elbows, the familiar fluffy puppy curling beneath his exhausted face and licking his chin enthusiastically.

"Hey there, Sunshine."

The puppy smiled and licked him again, hopping off the bed and barking at him. He flinched and groaned, "Fine, are you hungry, girl?"

The puppy panted and barked as if replying yes. Corey chuckled and hopped up as well, patting his thighs as he flexed his knees and leaned down at waist level.

She hopped up on his knees and bounced off, happily panting at him with another bark.

Colby tugged on a pair of pants and sighed, pulling on a shirt and buttoning up his jeans. The puppy licked her chops and raced Corey into the hallway.

Sam was groggily leaving his room the second the puppy rushed into the hallway. He let out a surprised yelp as he tripped and fell on his bum.

"Sunshine!" Corey chased after the puppy.

Sam watched in awe at the older male and glanced to where Colby stood, yawning, in the doorway.

"Sorry, Sam."

"It's... fine. When did we get another dog?"

"Last night. While you were over at Kat's house, me and Corey asked Elton if we could adopt a stray and he said yeah."

Sam sighed softly, "A golden lab?"

"Yeah, man," Colby said, holding out a hand to help his best friend up.

Sam gratefully took it, "Thanks. And nice. You named her Sunshine?"

"Corey did. She's golden, she's enthusiastic, she's obviously a morning pup."

"Makes sense then. Good choice, Corey."

Sam chuckled, seeing the man bun poke up behind the staircase as he held the puppy in his arms, cradling her like a baby and rubbing her belly, "THANKS!"

Colby headed towards the stairs with a yawn, "Hey, baby, can you make me some coffee?"

"Sure thing."

Sam followed Colby to the kitchen where Elton was lying on the floor, holding up his plate of toast as both Circa and Sunshine were sniffing at his beard and licking the jelly from it.

"Sunshine!" Colby called, hustling over to the puppy and picking her up.

Corey chuckled, "She just hopped from my arms out of nowhere!"

"Yeah, she's really fast.." Elton groaned, sitting up and pushing Circa off of him.

Aaron could be heard coming down the stairs, vlog camera in hand and Buddy in the other.

"Did I miss our new morning routine?" Aaron chuckled, pointing the camera at the new puppy.

Colby smiled, "It's Sunshine!"

"How old is she?" Aaron asked, reaching over to pet the fur of the golden lab.

Corey piped up with a huge grin, "She's 5 months old. A purebred golden lab, too."

"Where did you guys get her?"

"She's a stray surprisingly. Apparently, she was found underneath an abandoned trailer and rescued with her mom. She was the only puppy of the litter left alive I guess."

"That's actually... really sad."

Colby nodded, "But she's got a bigger family now."

"Well, where's her mom?"

Corey bit his lip nervously and glance at Colby, sighing softly, "We weren't allowed to take her home because she's sick."

Colby nodded, "But we saved Sunshine, so it's alright."

Aaron nodded, the camera pointing to the ground as he smiled at the golden ball of energy in Colby's arms.

"She's a beauty, that's for sure."

"A blessing of the gay couple of the house," Elton chuckled.

Colby lightly punched his arm, "Shut up."

Corey just giggled and took the dog from Colby's arms to feed her, "Okay, okay, sure, sure."

Colby smiled and watched his boyfriend place dog food inside the dish, the dog wiggling from his grip as he laughed at her sheer joy and excitement.

He smiled even more and whispered to himself,

"Our Bright Light"
