Jack drags himself into the coffee shop, exhaustion weighing heavily on his limps. His feet feel so heavy, his eyes like he can barely keep them open. Jack makes it to the counter, seeing the same girl from yesterday.
"Hello!" she smiles. "What can I make for you today?"
"A large black coffee please," Jack says, desperate for caffeine.
Jack pays before forcing himself to wait at the pickup counter. He rubs his eyes, trying to stay awake. He can't wait for the warm goodness to be bestowed on him. Nothing can change his attitude like a good cup of coffee.
The woman hands Jack his cup with a smile. Jack fakes one in return, thanking her before taking a long drink. It's piping hot but oh so good. He's still yawning, but the caffeine is already helping him keep his eyes open.
Jack plops down at a table, scrolling through his phone. He has only just opened Twitter when someone else walks into the coffee shop. Jack looks up to find it's the dyed redhead from yesterday. His heart beats a little faster, but he blames it on the caffeine.
The man with the raven and red hair is Mark, a fellow student. He stops by the coffee shop for a midday pick me up. His morning classes do an excellent job of draining his energy, but he still has plenty of homework to do before he can dare lay down for a bit of rest.
He glances to the tables, remembering Jack from yesterday. It's the hair. The neon green attracts his eye, even if it is mostly hidden beneath a beanie. Mark tries not to stare, going to the counter to order.
"Hello!" the barista greets. "What can I make for you today?
"Afternoon," Mark greets. "Can I get a medium green tea with mint and a splash of milk?"
"Of course!" the girl smiles.
Mark pays, waiting beside the counter for his drink. He wants to look at the other man in the shop, yet to get a good look at him, but he doesn't want to get caught. He thinks the green haired man might be cute, based on quick glances.
Mark receives his drink, thanking the barista. He takes a few sips as he makes his way to a table. He sits a distance from the other man, though not at a terrible angle to sneak a few looks.
Mark glances over quickly. The green haired man is paying no mind, still tired and yawning while scrolling through his phone. Mark takes the opportunity to look at him more fully, less wary of being caught.
The man has incredibly pale skin and rosy lips. Dark facial hair grows rather wildly on his chin and cheeks, yet it fits him nicely. His eyes are a deep, beautiful blue, clear and sparkling even though he appears exhausted. Mark almost wishes he could make eye contact to get the full affect of those gorgeous irises.
As if on cue, Jack glances up, eyes connecting with Mark's. Mark drops his gaze, a light blush spreading across his cheeks. Jack cocks an eyebrow, sipping his coffee as he goes back to his phone. Tea drinkers really are a strange breed, Jack decides.
