Sydney
Sydney and I go way back to elementary school. We met near the end and became best friends almost instantly, it has been 8 years since the days of us being very young and stupid. The only differences between 8 years ago and now are age and love. Over the years things have changed between us, I loved her, and she loved me. I found out through our best friend Valentina, that Sydney had feelings for me. I had no idea that was even possible, we had been so close for so many years, I wonder what went through her mind to finally fall for me. I decided to call her the next day just to talk,
"Hey Sydney!"
"Hey Tom, what's up?"
"Nothing really, are you busy?"
"Kind of, do you need anything?"
"Uh not really, do you want to get lunch tomorrow?"
"Sure, I would love to."
"Alright, sorry for bothering you, bye!"
That night, sleep was not on the agenda as I was so nervous for this lunch date. I forced Valentina to come over just to find me something to wear. It took us 4 hours of me bitching and moaning over how none of my stuff was good enough for her to knock some sense into me, literally. Valentina then asks me to drive her to Sydney's house, it is 1 am and this is an unusual sight. I drive her there and asked Valentina to tell me what happens because I am worried. Through the entire night I can't sleep and instead decide to play Fifa the whole night trying to tire myself to sleep. By 5 AM I get a text message from Valentina telling me that Sydney was having a panic attack just like I was about lunch. She also told me that she had gone home and that Sydney was still up and couldn't sleep. So I ran out of my house and into my car trying to find a flower shop that was open before the sun was out and I had no luck. I settled for a 7/11 and bought the nicest looking bouquet and drove straight to her house, knocked on her door and as she opened the door I gave her the flowers.
"Tom, what are you doing here?"
"These are for you Sydney, and I know we have a lunch date today but, I can't wait any longer to tell you this, I love you."
"Tom, how long have you felt like this?"
"A long time Sydney, a long time."
"Tom, I feel the exact same way, I never knew you felt like this."
"I didn't know you felt like this."
"What made you rush over here like this then?"
"Hope, I hoped I wouldn't make a fool of myself and I luckily didn't."
"Even if you did make a fool of yourself, you'd be my fool."
Then like in the movies, a long passionate kiss followed. Over the next 2 years, we blended together like peanut butter and jelly, nothing could have separated us. We were totally utterly in love and everyone knew it, everyday we'd have Valentina be a third wheel and have to deal with us being all mushy gushy. We had moved in together and basically started a life together, we were setting up for the future. Life seemed to be this place full of happiness, being able to wake up and look at the love of your life. Being able to come home knowing someone that loved you was waiting for you to walk through the door. Everything was falling into place, and life began to make sense.
What didn't make sense is what happened next,
"Tom we need to talk." She said.
"What about Sydney?"
"This isn't working out."
"What isn't?"
"Us, we aren't clicking anymore."
"You can't be serious, I think we're great together, nothing has changed at any time."
"Tom, we argue a lot and to be honest, I have just fallen out of love with you."
"Fallen out of love? Just last night you told me you loved me."
"I know I did, but I've done a lot of thinking."
"In one night?"
"No, over the last couple weeks."
"You pulled me along for weeks? Telling me you loved me and acting like the love of my life, yet you didn't love me at all?"
"Tom, I do love you and always did, I just think we need to move on from each other. I'll come by tomorrow to pick up my stuff.
"You can move on all you want, and you can find your shit on my lawn."
I then stood up and stormed out. 3 months later I found out she was engaged to a man named Nick that she had been dating for 4 years. Our relationship was 2 years and only ended 3 months ago.
