An Adventurous Child

By: Hannah Silverstein

He sneaks silently up the porch stairs

Slips to the window

A mouse in a cat’s lair

Quietly opens the blinds

The town phantom

Never before seen

He yearns to get one swift look at this marvelous creature

He is greatly disappointed

A blaring gunshot triggers his escape

Running

Barely contemplating what he could have seen

Running

Frightened

A fearful falcon in the dead of night

He makes it out alive

That adventurous child.
