Betty sat in her bedroom with her black bobbed wig clutched tightly in her hand. She stared at it for a long moment before tossing it into the trashcan. Then she slipped into her bathroom and picked up the box of black hair dye on the counter. Betty didn't need the wig. This wasn't temporary. She wanted to be black betty for good.
It wasn't long before Betty arrived at the party. The bar was trashy looking with graffiti sprayed all over the walls. The music was loud and there were swarms of edgy looking kids everywhere, drinking alcohol, using Jingle Jangle.
Betty took a deep breath. Don't be scared. You're bad Betty now. You're about to show Jughead what he's missing.
Betty walked into the party. All eyes turned to her, everyone's jaw dropping. She wore a tight leather mini dress and black motor cycle boots with a ripped jean jacket. Her mid length hair was pitch black and hung by her shoulders. Her eyes were smoky and her lips murder red.
And then she saw them. The Serpents all gathered in the back corner. Tony was clinging on tightly to Jughead, but he let go as soon as he saw Betty.
"B-Betty?" he stuttered, his eyes bewildered. He dragged his finger down the middle of her leather dress, as if checking if she was a hologram.
"Hi Jughead." She grinned.
"What are you doing here? What happened to you?" He couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Just making friends," Betty lied. "I decided to finally be myself. Let the real Betty out."
Jughead grabbed her hand and squeezed gently. "You don't have to do this Betty. Whatever's going on you can tell me." He looked deep into her eyes. Betty knew that look – he wanted to kiss her. She wanted to kiss him so badly, to tell him about everything that's been happening.
Suddenly Tony appeared, her face twisted into an angry scowl. "Juggy, why are you talking to this tramp?"
"Betty isn't a tramp, she's my friend," Jughead snapped at her.
Tony scoffed. "You're defending the girl who broke up with you? Get real Jughead. Leave this loser alone and come back to the group." Tony tried to tug Jughead along but he held his place.
"Maybe you should back off Tony," Betty warned, her voice unrecognizable. Her eyes were dark, her lips tense.
An evil smirk spread across Tony's lips. She leaned in close to Betty's face. "Or what – princess?"
Tony gave Betty a light shove and Betty snapped, cracking her fist into Tony's face. Tony flew onto her back, blood pouring down her face as the other Serpents rushed to her side.
Shocked at what she had just done, Betty dashed out of the bar and into a back alley.
"Betty!" She heard Jughead call out behind her. "Wait!"
She had to keep moving. She was terrified, not just about the Serpents, but of herself. She only stopped when Jughead grabbed her arm and spun her around.
