Neko Cross X Nightmare

Cross's P.O.V.

I was... alone... cold... so cold... and hungry... my owner, Chara. They said I was useless, annoying, clingy... Oh no. They're coming!

I cowered next to the metal pole I was chained to as Chara walked to me. "Come." I meekly stood up and crawled to Chara. They never let me walk on two feet... the last time I did that...

Let's just say I don't want to try that again. Ever.

"Eat. You're going to make me a lot of money." I ate my food quickly. It tasted a lot better then what they normally give me. I looked at Chara. "Thank you." I heard a scoff and my chain was unlatched from the pole. "Follow me you useless shit." I barely kept up with Chara's speed but managed to stay right where the chain wouldn't pull on me.

~Time Skip~

We were... in an allyway... it looks like the one Chara found me in. They gave me so much love and attention back then...

-FLASHBACK-

"Come on Crossy! I'm gonna show you to my family after you get settled in! They're gonna love you! Want a collar and new clothes?"
All that love and affection... I thought it would last forever. I thought I would have an owner who loved and took care of me.
They brought me to their family like they said.
They all loved me like they said.
I got a nice collar like they asked.
I got new clothes like they asked.
I did everything they asked.
Every...
Little..
Thing...
It wasn't long until they found me irritating.
Maybe... Three or four months? I didn't keep track.

My nice collar was the first to go.
It was replaced with a poorly-made metal one that was on me too tight. I liked it for a little. The cold metal on my bones. It felt pretty nice until I kept on getting painful bruises.

The second thing to go was my clothing.
It was replaced with an itchy, baggy shirt that had a lot of holes.

The cycle continued.

My room?
G o n e
Replaced with the outside floor.

My food?
Barely there.
I ate once or twice a week. Maybe three if Chara was feeling nice.

My legs?
B r o k e n
They got mad when I tried to help with something and broke my kneecaps. It always hurts to crawl now.

My speech?
More like speechless...
I tried to talk to someone when they brought me outside and punished me by cracking my vocal chords. It hurts to speak even single words...

My happiness?
N e v e r T h e r e A n y m o r e
It was replaced with a melancholy feeling of regret for trusting Chara. I can't do anything. I just lay down on the ground, next to my pole. I even named it when I was feeling really lonely one day.

It never spoke but it didn't hurt me. I guess it was an okay friend.

-End Flash Back-

My thoughts were interrupted when I felt my collar pull on my roughly as Chara gave my chains to... a skeleton? I looked at the skeleton with curiosity. "Who?" I barely managed to say. "Your new master filth. Now you won't bother me anymore with your useless crying." I looked to the ground in shame. I tried to hold my tears when I was hungry... it just wouldn't work all the time. "The fuck did you even feed him? He's skinner then a person with anorexia." I heard Chara scoff and Chara walked away. "Who?" I repeated my question. "I'm Nightmare. You're coming home with me." I nodded and followed Nightmare until he stopped abruptly. "Why aren't you walking on your back feet?" I sat and held my knee caps. "Hurts." He sighed and picked me up. I squeaked and curled up into a tight ball, terrified of what he would do. "Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." I slowly relaxed as Nightmare carried me to... a really big house? "This is your new home. Let me introduce you to the tenants. "HORROR. DUST. MURDER. COME HERE." I whimpered again, this time getting out of Nightmare's arms and hid behind a couch. "What the fuck Nightmare? I was asleep!" I began to cry as the other two came and argued with each other. "I'm too tired for this shit!" "Shut the fuck up! I'm looking for Cross! Cross! Where did you go?!" Horror looked at Nightmare as if he was insane. "Who the fuck is Cross?" "I got a Neko. I WAS going to introduce you to him but he ran away." I heard a groan of annoyance and a grunt of pain. "Shut it Horror." I whimpered softly and felt someone grab me and pull me out of my hiding spot. "No!" I barely managed to say while sobbing and trying to get out of the skeleton's arms. I heard a snicker and they dropped me. I held my arms, barely managing to land on my feet. My kneecaps hurt a lot. "Stop..." I whimpered, my vocal chords strained from speaking. "Please..." I felt a dark presence behind me and I saw the other skeletons' faces pale as they backed up slowly. "D o  n o t  h u r t  C r o s s." They nodded and ran away. I turned around and saw Nightmare. He looked as mad as when Chara was going to hurt me. I whimpered and cowered in fear. He saw me and sighed, changing to... a different skeleton? I looked at him curiously as he slowly walked towards me. I tried to back away but I was cornered. I closed my eyes tightly and tried to curl into a ball. He sighed and sat next to me, holding out his hand. I looked at him with slight curiosity again but stayed in the corner for a while. "Come on Cross. It's still me." I felt Nightmare get annoyed and I put my left hand into his hand. "Why?" I looked at Nightmare in the eyes. He averted them quickly and I slowly inched my way to him, cuddling with Nightmare quickly. I heard a snicker from behind us and Nightmare's body stiffened. I let go of him and went back to my corner.
Maybe I can stay in this corner and they won't hurt me?

Nope

Nightmare picked me up and brought me to a really dark room. My eyes adjusted quickly due to me normally being in the dark and saw a fairly neat room. The bed looked like it was never slept on because of the neatness, the only thing I saw that was somewhat messy was the desk in the corner. It had a few scattered papers but the middle was clean. I was placed down on the bed, wrinkles forming under me. I curled into a ball and shivered from how cold the room was. "Are you cold, Cross?" I slowly nodded and felt a soft blanket cover my frail body then Nightmare hugging me from behind. "Are you warm now?" I nodded again, this time snuggling with the blanket before I was picked up and placed into Nightmare's lap. I squeaked softly and curled into a ball. Nightmare chuckled and wrapped his arms around me. "Thank you..." I slowly fell asleep.

Nightmare's P.O.V.

I heard Cross faintly whisper "Thank you..." and his body become limp. I smiled softly and kissed the top of his skull before lying him on the bed, me lying next to him and wrapping the blanket over the both of us before falling asleep with Cross.
