Janam Janam (Life after Life)

Part 1

London

London is called the city of dreams. A lot of Indians have migrated to London, and Murthy's family is one of them. Murthy's dad had come to London to fulfill his dreams, he set up a business and settled down here. Murthy's current family consists of him, his wife, his mom and his beloved daughter Nandini.

Nandini is standing in front of the mirror and getting ready to go to her friend Navya's house. Navya had been to India for her cousin's wedding and had just returned. Nandini is excited to meet Navya after a month. She comes downstairs and is ready to leave.

Nandini's Grandmother : "Nandini, where are you going? Come have your lunch first."

Though everyone in the family loves Nandini a lot, Nandini is very close to her grandmother. Nandini's Dad and Mom are usually busy with work, her grandmother is the one who takes care of Nandini most of the time. She tries to fulfill even Nandini's smallest wishes. She and Nandini have lunch together and Nandini leaves.

Nandini reaches Navya's house and goes to her room. They were having a nice time. They were telling each other what they did in the past one month. Navya was explaining about her trip to India.

Music was playing in the background. One of the tunes catches Nandini's attention, she feels it is a very familiar tune. She felt that she is heard the tune before. She is lost, she's no longer hearing to what Navya is saying.

Navya: "Nandini, I have been talking to you , you are not responding at all."

Navya : "Are you thinking about someone special? Did you find someone when I was not here?"

Nandini : "No, nothing like that.....I was immersed in the song."

Navya : "Don't tell me you fell in love with the singer just listening to the song?"

Nandini : "I fell in love with the tune.. happy now."

Navya : "Don't get mad Nandini, I was just pulling your leg."

Nandini : "Okay. It is a very melodious tune, where did you get it from?"

Navya : "From India. My cousin was listening to these songs, I made a copy of it. If you want, I can make a copy of it for you too."

Nandini : "Thank you Navya, I just want one song."

Navya made a copy of the song that Nandini asked for and gave it to her. Nandini transferred the song to her phone after going home.

Mumbai, India

A party is going on. Fab5 is celebrating the release of their new album. Fab5 consists of Manik, Alya, Cabir, Mukthi and Dhruv. Alya is Manik's girl friend.

Manik was playing a tune on his guitar.

Cabir : "Manik, you have been playing that tune repeatedly from the past 6 months. Don't you get bored of it?"

Manik : "Nope, this tune is my favorite. I will never get bored of it."

Manik had composed several songs, but that tune was very close to his heart.

London

Nandini was listening to the song that she had copied to the phone and went to sleep. She had a dream. She was in a hilly region. A boy is singing a song, the tune was the same as the one she heard before sleeping, but lyrics were different.

She felt that the boy was singing the song just for her. The images in her dream were blur and so she couldn't see the boy's face.

The dream repeated for the next few days. As days passed by, she also saw blurred images of a few other places/buildings in her dream. She had drawn the sketches of the places she had seen in her dream.

She didn't know why she was having such dreams, but she had figured out that it was somehow connected to the tune she had heard. She tried to search for the places on the internet, but couldn't find any information.

Murthy wanted to get Nandini married to his friend's son. So one day when their family was sitting together and having a conversation,

Murthy : "Nandini, What do you think of Abhi?"
