Title: The Blue Butterfly
Anime: Ouran High School Host Club
AU: Soulmates have matching marks that appear when the younger one turns 16.

🌹

Kyoya always wondered about his soulmate, if he'd ever truly get the chance to be with them, because of his father. It wasn't until after he and the host club had met Haruhi that his soul mark appeared. He'd been in the club cleaning up something the twins broke when Tamaki had freaked out about the mark on his left wrist.

A purple rose with a blue butterfly resting on it.

Kyoya understood the purple rose was representing him, and assumed that the blue butterfly was for his soulmate.

Not that it'd matter in the end, if his father had any say in it.

[Name] had never thought much about soulmates, never thinking about how they might feel about her. All she ever thought about was her family and how important it was to her that her parents were happy. She helped with their company's charity to help butterfly migration. Her entire life seemed to revolve around butterflies, having a family butterfly garden, where she and the family's Great Dane, Duke, spent most of their time.

However, on her sixteenth birthday, when the mark appeared on her inner left wrist, she wondered about it. She thought it was silly to day dream about it, and focused on helping her father and mother with the company and focusing on the butterflies. It wasn't until she was invited to her cousin's party that she even bothered with others. She knew she'd have to attend to keep up appearances with her uncle and her family.

She chose a simple aqua dress with thin straps that ended mid calf, a pair of pale blue opera gloves, and a pair of dark blue heals. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail, with simple curls in it. A blue butterfly pin in her hair, holding back a long strand of her bangs. She had intended to not use make up, but her personal maid, her only real friend, insisted on at least eye-shadow and lipstick.

She was being driven there by the family driver, a foreigner named David. He let her out in front of her cousin's home, the house of Tamaki Suoh. She approached the door and knocked softly, waiting a moment before it was opened by a maid, who lead her into the ballroom where she could hear the annoying cries of her cousin about something or other. The maid opened the door and everyone turned around.

"[NAME]!" Tamaki exclaimed, running and crushing her in a hug. "T-tamaki--!" She gasped a bit as he picked her up and spun her around. He set her down and dragged her over to his friends.

"Everyone! This is my cousin [Name] Oshika!" He introduced pushing you forward. You stumbled a bit but regained your footing and glared at Tamaki for a second before looking over his friends, a small smile plastering itself over her face.

"It's nice to meet you all!" She greeted, being instantly liked by Honey. Honey was going to leader over to his cake when Tamaki latched himself onto her left hand, dragging glove all the way off, exposing her soul mark.

"Tamaki!" [Name] scolded, holding out her left hand for her glove. Tamaki gaped at her wrist before grabbing onto it. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU GOT YOUR SOUL MARK?!!" Tamaki practically screamed causing her to wince. "I didn't think it was that big of a deal.... I have more important things to deal with than chasing someone I don't know..." She explained distantly, catching Kyoya's widened eyes. "YOU CHASE BUTTERFLIES MOST OF THE TIME AND YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR THEM!" Tamaki screeched, causing [Name] to flinch.

"Tamaki, stop yelling at her." Kyoya reprimanded, taking her glove from him, as well as her hand and leading her away from the rest and out of the room.

"U-um.... Sorry, but... What was your name again?" [Name] managed to say as Kyoya led her to the living room. "Kyoya Ootori." He stated softly, noting her clutching of her glove.

"You're the one Tamaki always talks about then..?" She smiled softly.

"I suppose so." Kyoya answered, looking down at her fondly. "Um... Why did you help me? No one helps me when Tamaki freaks out on me.... Not even my uncle helps me...." She trailed off, holding her elbow. Kyoya simply rolled up his left sleeve showing her the mark on his wrist.

The rose and butterfly. Her eyes widened and her jaw slackened. "Y-you're my soulmate?" She gasped taking his wrist and aligning his mark with her own, smiling.

"I suppose I'm the blue butterfly?" [Name] asked, her soft smile never leaving her face. Kyoya smiled gently at her, "I'd assume so."
