Kendall
I thought about Cain Wilder. Those stunning grey eyes and the smirk on his face. He is such a handsome guy that made my heart skipped. Then I thought about Stanley, I am not going to fall on someone else feet anymore. I focused on my son and tried not to think about Cain Wilder.
"Mummy," Nick came running into the kitchen with a little car in his hand the next morning, "There is someone knocking on the door,"
I wiped my hands on my tank top and watched those little feet run in front of me to the door with a peanut butter bread in his messy hands. I had brought along some can food and bread with peanut butter to feed Nick.
This apartment is good enough for the two of us. Actually, it is too good for us. As long as we got a roof over our head, I won't complain.
From the conversation between Cain and Abel, it seem like Abel is the one calling the shots. I am afraid that the rent will be at a price that I cannot afford.
Abel is standing at the door. She has beautiful grey eyes and a confident smile on her prefect features. She is wearing an expensive blouse and the jeans is hugging her curves perfectly.
I smiled, opening the door for her to come in. "You must be Abel."
"Yes. I'm Abel Wilder." She held her hand out to me, "You must be Kendall."
Abel Wilder? Cain and Abel are siblings? I took her hand and nodded. Nick is standing behind my legs. Abel smiled at him, "Oh, hello there. What is your name?"
Nick was hesitant at first, he looked at me and I nodded at him. He has never talked to anyone in the house except for me. This is as new for him as it is for me.
"Nick," He looked away from Abel, his lower his head. "No more monster,"
Abel raised her curious brows and turned to me, "Are you in trouble with law or something?"
"No, definitely not," I quickly defended myself, "Just his father. We got into trouble with the father,"
She gave me a look but she didn't pressed me for more answers.
Abel interacted with Nick for a while before she passed the car back to Nick and said to me, "I heard from my brother that you said you're homeless and you can't pay the rent now?"
"Yeah," I answered, embarrassed by how little I could pay her, "I'm sorry. I will go out and find a job and pay you back as soon as possible. If that's okay?"
Abel studied me for a while. She bit her lip and asked, "Did you escape from your husband?"
I shrugged, "I did escape from him but he is not my husband. I'm not married."
"Is he a dangerous man, anything I can help?" Abel face softened and took my hands, "I don't know the whole story but I saw the scars. It must be hard and it must take a lot of courage to run away from someone."
"Thank you, Abel. I don't know how to thank you for being so helpful even though we met for less than an hour. I don't want anyone to be involved in this. If he finds us," I swallowed and looked at Nick who is playing at a corner. I never even think about what I will do if Stanley really finds us.
"You will call the police," Abel answered for me, "You will get the police involved in whatever you are in. I can see you and Nick are terrified," She said, squeezed my hand. "I have a job for you."
My attention snapped to her and I waved her off, "No no. You and Cain has helped me so much already."
She waved her hand, "Since Cain and I has helped you so much. It's only right that we help you all the way. Work as a waitress in En Blue. Think about it, Nick can be around in the staff area. You can keep an eye on him. I can help you keep an eye on Nick while you work. And, with you having a job here, I can be assured that you'll pay your rent. Does that sounds good?"

Cain
It is so difficult to get her out of my head.
I just got back to En Blue after my run. I was about to look for Abel to see how she handled the Kendall situation then I saw her.
Right outside of the kitchen, Kendall is laughing and smiling with Jackie, wearing a white blouse and black business skirt — the waitress uniform. What the fuck?
"Hi brother," Abel arms are folded, leaning against her office. "Like what you saw?"
I narrowed my eyes at Abel and pointed at Kendall's direction, "What is going on? I'm pretty sure we don't need another waitress and I'm pretty sure she is just here to rent the attic."
Why is she in my restaurant, gaining attention from male customers and even from the chefs in my kitchen? I am so tempted so pull her back from wherever she is standing and kiss her senseless.
I fucking need help. I am out of my damn mind.
"She is in trouble, Cain." Abel said, looking at Kendall as Jackie guide her on table numbers. "She is running from her kid's father. She is not married. I saw her scars. She is probably running from an abusive relationship. Nick seems terrified about the house they lived in."
"Where is she from? Does the guy has a name?" How can someone hurt Kendall? How can someone hurt the innocent kid?
"She doesn't want to talk about it. I told her she can stay in the attic and work for her rent here. I can help to take care of her kid while she earn some money. She is broken, Cain. She is hiding behind the smiles."My heart clenched at the fact that she is in trouble.
"Where is the kid?"
Abel opened up her office door slightly to let me see the kid sleeping on the sofa with a toy car on his chest. I sighed.
Abel is smiling as she stares at me, "What's wrong Cain? Trouble in paradise? I have never seen you showing such enormous concern over a girl, ever. Not even that bitch, Emma."
I shot my sister a look when she mentioned about Emma.
Abel shrugged and turned back into her office, "Good luck, Cain. Try not to be an ass."
I was about to enter my office when I heard Jackie talking to Kendall, "That is everything. Oh, boss!"
I saw Kendall's surprised face. Jackie grabbed Kendall's hand, pulling her towards me. If Jackie isn't gay, I would have punched him in his face. I took a deep breath as she stood in front of me.
Jackie said to Kendall, "This is the boss and head chef of En Blue, Cain Wilder."
A little frown appeared on her beautiful face. She is biting her lips and nodded, "We've met."
"Oh," Jackie clapped his hands together, "Great, then I will go and have a smoke before the afternoon rush."
Kendall and I stood at the hallway and she gave me a small smile, "Sorry, I didn't know you are the boss of En Blue."
"So what if I'm the boss of En Blue?" My lips curled up, "Abel had told me. If you need anything, you can look for... er, Abel."
Kendall hesitated a little before she nodded and excused herself so that she can check on her son.
Ugh.
I am in deep shit.
