She was bright, humorous,
when you see her,
you never see me.
I'm just there.
They call her name,
they tell her stories.
I'm just the girl on the sideline,
hearing every word,
every whisper.
I wanted to be acknowledged,
I wanted people calling my name,
wanting me to listen to their stories.
But I was known as her duplicate,
even if we are best friends.
She cares for me she really does,
that's why I love her.
But I also want people calling my name.
I want people to come up and talk to me,
just because they like my company.
I don't want people thinking of me as her duplicate.
Even if I try so hard not to be.
