"Hey mom! I brought Kenzie today!" I go over and give mom a hug. It's Christmas today and even though I can't spend it in the comfort of our home or have a wonderful feast at our dinning table, I still have my family, especially my mom. The doctor said she was recovering fast. They even predicted that she should be able to go home in just a week. Kenzie and I have already started preparing the house. Oh wait, I'm not supposed to call her Kenzie anymore. Mackenzie and I have already started preparing the house.

"Sorry we couldn't celebrate at home. I shouldn't have gotten sick so near Christmas." Mom apologises. "Like you could help it." I say, smiling. "Oh. Well, I guess I couldn't" Mom seems a little surprised at my response, I have no idea why. Actually, I think I do. I wouldn't have said that before. I mean, I would have before the divorce but after that, this would never be possible.

I guess I'm improving. Mackenzie grabs the picnic basket I brought along and starts to unpack the food. I help her and we're done in no time. "Time to eat!" Mackenzie whoops. I help mom sit up even though I think she's mostly recovered. We say our prayers before we start to eat. "Here mom." I put some food onto mom's plate. "Why thank you, Maddie!" mom seems really happy with my change in character and she should be.

My mom inspires me. She makes me want to be kindhearted and caring. She makes me want to live life. My mom guides me. She brought us up singlehandedly, always teaching us the right values and guiding them towards the good. She steers us away from trouble and evil. My mom loves me. I love her too. No matter what I say or do, I will always love her. She sacrificed so much for me, yet I used to want even more from her. I'm going to change this. I won't let her stress out again. I will care for her the rest of her life. Only because she is my mother and she derserves it.
