I tried to down the cup as quickly as possible, but before I could get halfway through, Dave was done. "W-wow. *hiccup* Ok well, I bet I'll *hiccup* beat you in round two."I giggled, but Dave just shook his head. I sipped on the drink, not in a rush since Dave couldn't get a drink yet, but as soon as I saw the waitress approach our table I chugged the rest of the cup. "Here is your food, the chicken for you sir, and the burger for the lady." "Thank you, may we, may... can we both get drinks. Like before." Dave said something about me being a trunk, but I couldn't *hiccup* hear him. Woah! I just hiccuped in my brain, how does that work? "Dave, I'm not a trunk! Who do you think I am? An elephant?" I say. I took a bite of my burger and swallowed it. Man, my mouth was dry I needed more to drink. "Please may I have one of those things." I said pointing at Dave's glass.

The lady left and Dave grabbed my clenched fist with his hand. "Did you get my drink?"  "Sadly, yes. This is a competition." He said with a smile. "Your face is a competition!" I giggled. Man sitting near us looked at me funny. What was his problem? Had he never seen a Y/N before? I took a few bites out of  my food and look at Dave. He was eating too! "You eat too!" I said more than asked. He handed me the cup of water and said, "Drink some of this." Then he muttered, "One cup, just one cup," under his breath. What does he mean? One cup of what? Blood, no, that's to dark. "Why's your hair red there but not there?" I said. A tiny voice in the back of my head said, "Oh my gosh, Y/N, you just can't ask why people's hair is red in a certain place!"

Dave and I both chuckled; what was he laughing at? Our drinks came and I was finished with my food. Wow, it took the lady long. I chugged the drink and said, "Woah!"

Dave called the waitress over and said he wants the check. Since I want to be nice, I asked to pay the bill. Dave just shook his head. After 5 minutes, the lady came back with the check and he gave her his card. I fumbled around in my purse trying to grab my card, but my hands were shaking really bad so I didn't get it to her before she left. Suddenly, I felt really nauseous. I looked at Dave from the corner of my eye, he looked concerned all of a sudden. My face felt hot, so I pulled a mirror out of my purse. My cheeks were a deep red, and I looked like I'd been out in the sun for several hours. Why was I so red? Was this part of being a trunk?

The floor tilted toward me and it went kind of blurry. Did the floor want a hug, because it sure came up to greet me.

Dave's POV:

Oh no! When I turned to get my card back from our waitress I saw Y/N falling out of her chair. I got up out of my chair, sliding it again at the booth behind me, and went to catch her. Her head hit my lap hard, but she was already unconscious before she hit it. I sat her up in the chair, then grabbed my wallet out of my pocket. I grabbed five dollars, slammed it on the table, and shoved the wallet back in my pocket.

Slowly, I struggled to pick up Y/N, but after funding the right way to get a hold on her it was easy. I carried her bridal style out the door and to my car. Sh*t! My car was a block away AND it was snowing. I struggled to keep Y/N in my arms as I shook with the cold.

Finally, I got to where I parked. I unlocked the door and laid Y/N across the backseat. Despite being very difficult, I got the seatbelt to buckle around her. I closed the door, got in the front seat, and started the car. I ejected the CD before it could wake her up, and then I pulled out of the parking space.

•••

Surprisingly, she didn't wake up during the long car ride. I expected that the jostling of the car, or the cold of the seats against her skin would've woken her, but I was wrong. She slept like a baby. I don't think that moving her would wake her up, but it'll still be hard to get her up the stairs.

•••

After a few attempts, I got her into the elevator and got upstairs. Instead of trying to get her to her flat, I just laid her down on my couch and grabbed a pile of blankets from my closet. Quistis jumped up on her chest and I had to shoo him off, although I don't think anything could wake her up at this point.

"God your face is red." I muttered. She looked hot, so I felt her forehead. Damn, she didn't have a fever, but I think she'll have a bad hangover in a few hours. I got up and grabbed a rag from the kitchen. I soaked it in cold water then put it on her forehead. She looks so peaceful, and so much calmer in her sleep compared to the drunk mess I saw earlier.

It was only 7:40, but I was tired as heck. I picked up Quistis and carried him into my room. Hopefully, everything will be better in the morning.
