When I woke up the tv was blaring and Dave was sitting at his computer. I pushed off the blanket and groaned. "Hey beautiful." Dave said with a laugh. I laughed in my brain because he hadn't fully brushed his hair. I stood up, but my knees were tired and weak so I resisted the urge just to lay back down. "What are you doing?" I asked scratching my head and realizing what a bloody wreck I looked like. "Planning out my Christmix for this year." He replied. "Hear this." Dave reached across his desk and grabbed a pair of headphones.
He handed them to me and I put them on. He opened up another tab and pasted the sound clip in another file. "This is kind of a basic structure to it, but I'll be playing it on the soundboard live. Well- when I record the video." He explained. He opened up another editing tab- or something -and then hit play.
After I had finished listening to it Dave asked, "What do you think?" "I love it. I mean, it's not finished but it sounds good so far." Dave nodded and continued to add beats and notes to the music. I watched over his shoulder for a bit, amazed at what he could do. Then, after what seemed like an eternity of watching him work, my phone pinged from across the room. I walked over to get it and sighed, it was my aunt.
Aunt Chasity was my dad's sister and she was part of the reason we moved to America. Chasity was 12 years older than my dad, 68 this year, and was much meaner. She is overbearing and cruel and just an unpleasant person to be around. She is always pushy towards us and organizes our family oriented plans for us and everyone else. I'm pretty sure everyone in my family hates her, but no one has ever said anything.
The text said:
Chasity: Hey Y/N, it's aunt Chas and your parents wanted me to tell you that they bought two tickets from London to Chicago and wanted to know if you wanted to come for Thanksgiving. (They knew you wanted to stay in England for Christmas.) Also, don't ask them about the tickets. What happened was they wanted to come see you but bought tickets from the opposite place. Luv ya hun! ❤️😘
I replied with:
Yea Chas. Mail me both tickets I guess. I have a friend that may want to go with me. Love you.
"Hey Dave, do you have plans for Thanksgiving." I called. He turned to me and thought for a moment. "No, why?" He replied. "Well, my parents wanted to come see me for Thanksgiving, but they bought tickets from London to Chicago instead of the other way around. And now I have two round trip tickets to Chicago and back. They are getting here tomorrow or the next day so yea. Wanna come with me to America?"
"Of course! I've been to America before and it's really cool. Besides, I have no life." I laughed and said, "I better get going. I have important business things to do today. Bye!" Dave waved from his desk then continued to work.
I left the house and went back to my flat.•••
A few hours later..
I had called the nearest bank to ask about a loan to start my business. I went in and got my loan. My afternoon was boring, all I did was just spend money on stock and a few necessities like shelves and a cash register. After almost dying of boredom, I decided to close up my laptop for the day and watch some YouTube on my phone.
I scroll through my YouTube notifications and click on a random video. Before I can even start watching the video, a text notification comes up. I click on it and see it's from Dave.
Dave: Hey, uh idk how but our tickets just arrived at my door. And I was like 'Jeremy, how did these get here?' And he was like, 'What do you mean, they were mailed from Chicago like a week and a half ago.' So apparently they sent the tickets anyway. Also, the flight is tonight at 10:00! Get back to me ASAP!
Fuck! I respond with:
Ok um eff this, I'm going. If you're going, get packed and meet me in the lobby at 6:45. Don't bother messaging me back about it. And if you're going, I'd bring your Christmix stuff.
I hurriedly put my phone on charge and put my laptop in its bag. I ran in my room and grabbed my still half-full suitcase. What was still in it I left and started cramming the clothes I wear most in it. I found my toiletry bag and threw my tiny bottles back in it.
After gathering all the bare necessities, I checked the time it was nearly six and I still needed to sort threw what I had to correct it. Jesus Christ this was an effing mess.

Dave's POV:
I read Y/N's message and went straight into panic mode. I grabbed my soundboard and all my equipment and put them in their appropriate cases.
The next thing was clothes. I chucked a few t-shirts, a few pairs of jeans, and a couple of pairs of underwear. I also decided to bring two jackets and a hoodie. Now for probably the hardest part: hair. I grabbed a toiletries bag and threw toothpaste, my toothbrush and few others things like that in the bag and then took out the travel sized containers. I quickly tried to fill them up and then threw them in with my hairbrush.
By the time I got done it was 6:30 and I quietly cursed. I slid my phone in my back pocket and grabbed all my stuff. Finally, I was able to leave. I locked my door and ran to the elevator.

I checked my watch again then turned back towards the elevator. The doors opened and I saw Dave standing there. He gave me a half-smile and walked over to me. "Ready?" He asked. "I'm ready." I said walking out the door with him.
