Chapter 5: Catching up with bestie!

When I settled in my room, I was glad they had wifi, so I can video chat with my best friend Iris. "ELAAAA!" she greeted once my face was shown on Facetime.

"RIIIIIIIIS!" I responded and we both laughed.

"So, hows' the PHILIPPINES?" she asked. She was half mexican and half canadian.

"It's good. My grandpa is doing well already and family is good, you know"

"Hmmmm... IS there a guy?"

Man, she knew me too well.

"Maybe." I said not willing to elaborate.

"ELARA. You better tell me everything or you will go through hell when you get back here," she said. Yep, you don't mess with Iris.

"Okay, so there's this guy, we bumped into each other at the hospital... and I found out later that my uncle is trying to set us up and when I saw him again, he seems cold and tensed. Kind of avoiding me or something. It's weird. I didn't do anything wrong. At least from what I know."

"Ouh. Dark and mysterious. Isn't that what you love about guys?" she said before laughing at me.

"Yes, but this feels different. Like, I always feel embarrass when I'm around him, like he's judging me with his looks."

"Ah I see. I hate that." she admitted.

"You see! Now you know why I'm like this."

"I think you're overthinking again. Just relax. Don't mind him until he approaches you."

"Okay... but for some reason my eyes keep searching for him when I feel like he's around"

"Okay, try to stop that. You don't want to look too interested you know?"

"Yeah, okay. I'll try my hardest."

"On the other hand, is he hot?"

I laughed out loud. Good thing I wore my earphones so no one would hear what she's saying.

"Well...yeah. But I haven't really took the time to really look at him. I mostly focused on his face... which by the way...really nice to look at."

"Ah, okay. You're a good girl. You don't look downwards."

"omg Iris, you're such a pervert." We both laughed at this.
