The next few weeks were pretty relaxed. Katrina and Elijah became friends and I forgot the strange incident. I showed Katrina New Orleans, she loved the city and decided to stay here for a while, which I only welcomed, after all she was my best friend. Elijah showed me more of his favorite places. He was wonderful and I could say that I loved him and that he loved me. But there was something I could not explain, as if he was keeping something secret from me, and that feeling did not let me go. I turned to Elijah and put my head on his chest.
"Morning," Elijah said quietly, kissing my hairline. I stroke his chest, wishing that I could shake off that thought.
"Morning," I said, looking up at him.
"You look like you are in thought," he said
"A little," I said, laying my head down and looking out the window.
"And what about? If I may ask?" Elijah asked, now I had a chance to ask him, but I say, "Nothing special, I'll freshen up for a while", I went out of the room into the bathroom, why could not I just ask him, then everything would be clear, I turned on the water.
ooOoo
After taking a shower and changing my clothes, I returned to the bedroom. Elijah stood in front of the mirror and straightened his tie. When he heard me he turns around, I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He pulled me closer to him on my hips, finally we parted.
"I have an appointment now, I will not take long and when I come back, could we have breakfast together?"
"Hm, only if you show me where the library is"
"That can be arranged," he said and smiled
ooOoo
The library was bigger than I thought. I looked around, there were so many old books here. I ran my finger over the books, I stopped, at a thinner volume, I pulled it out. There was a meter on the envelope, I opened the book, it was written by hand, it looked like a kind of diary. I know that one should not read diaries, but my curiosity over took me and I leave the date: 09.May.1678
This book was already over 300 years old, I read the page, it was about vampires. I start the book in disbelief, that could be? Vampires were pure fiction right? My eyes went to the bottom of the page, there was a name that I knew all too well: Elijah Mikaelson. I dropped the book, I had to get out of here as soon as possible. I grabbed my jacket and walked out of the property. Elijah Mikaelson was a vampire. I ran into my apartment and closed the door behind me. Vampires were here, alive, technically dead and running in New Orleans. I suspected he was hiding a secret, but I never thought of vampires.
The front door opened and Elijah stood there.
"I can only imagine how your mind is spinning, but if you'll let me, I'll tell you whatever you want to know", He was so calm. The understanding between my body language and his was completely different.
"I do not want to know anything, I just want you to go." I was not familiar with vampires. But the little information I got to know through the journal said vampires had to be invited into houses, and Elijah had not been invited in to me. He opens the button of his jacket and uses the door sill as a leaning post for his hand.
"I'm afraid I can not do that, Grace, you see, despite this new found information you've received, my job is still to keep you safe, enemies lurking in the shadows, and I can not kill you New Orleans alone Now please, invite me so we can talk "
"I will not invite you Elijah, because this conversation is over, I just have to know one thing" He looked at me carefully and tried to interpret my feelings.
"And what is that?" My lip trembled, I stared at the great vampire.
"Was it really real ... the romantic dinners to take me to your favorite places in New Orleans, the presents to tell me about your family ... sleeping with me or just distractions so I would not find out who you were are you really?" Elijah stepped as far as the barrier allowed and I would not allow it.
"I do not assure you Grace that was never a lie, not for a moment, not even for a second, I'll take care of you, I love-" I hold up my hand to keep him from finishing his sentence, I took two steps forward. Please, do not say it, "my voice cracked, forcing me to whisper the last words.
"I love you", I closed my eyes, a single tear rolled down. I opened it and looked at Elijah again.
"I told you not to say it, why did you say that?" Elijah was frustrated with the invisible barrier.
"Because it's the truth, I want you to know that this version of me, the 1000-year-old vampire, is the same Elijah Mikealson you met on the ball that day, I beseech you Grace, invite me." , I took a deep breath so that I had the courage to come to the door.
"No, I'm sorry Elijah, I'll keep your secret, but I'd never want to see you again", I said, slamming the door. I closed the door and checked that the locks were secure. Now my tears ran free and I slid down the door. Elijah knocked and told me to open the door again. He sounded as desperate and sad as I did. I wish I had never found this book.
"Grace what's going on?" Katrina asked and came up to me.
"Elijah... h-he ... is ... a-a ... v-vampire", I said, my lips trembling. Katrina looked at me and saw that I was telling the truth. She kneels in front of me and hugs me ...
So you realize that the chapter is set on the prologue, but it's not the end! So tell me what you think! Thanks for reading
