Walking the long road
Far-reaching and meandering through plains of damp grass
A pool of rainwater glimmers in the ground before me
Glimmering across the blackened path I step along.
I look down and see my reflection within its cool, still waters,
A reflection of another world,
Of a life I could have been destined to
A peaceful, permanent home
With wonderful friends and family surrounding me
My true love by my side, supporting and encouraging...
This reflection, I look so happy inside that world.
But no, that was fantasy
It was never my destiny.
Fated to walk alone,
To walk onwards into the western sun
To go on this journey of adventure
To fulfill my never-ending calling,
That was my reality.
And I would not have it any other way,
For I know I cannot be like everyone else.
I cannot settle down and live peacefully like them.
The fated heart of a Wanderer.
And I would never wish it any other way,
Never sacrifice all that I've lived and learned in life,
My relationship with the Lord
So much was gained on this road I've taken.
Therefore, I continue walking on
Leaving the pool of my reflection behind,
The reflection of what could have been,
To follow the billowing clouds and the sun before me
As it sets in the far western skies
To find the adventure of my calling
That awaits me!
