Miley's POV

"Are Joe and Demi really asleep?" I asked walking back onto the deck.

"I'm guessing the jet skis' wore them out," Justin said letting out a sigh.

"Probably," I said sitting down on the couch opposite of him.

"You dated anyone since Liam?" Justin asked as he watched me closely.

"Uh, sort of." I shrugged. "I went out with this one guy for a little bit but he was too clingy," I said rolling my eyes.

"Girls don't like clingy guys, do they?" Justin asked with a chuckle.

"It's different for each girl," I said with a shake of my head.

"So what is it for you?" He asked as he leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees.

"I think it is important to leave some room for growth in a relationship. I don't want to spend every single moment with whoever I'm with. I think it is important to have relationships outside of each other." I explained.

"I can understand that." Justin nodded.

"What about you?" I asked.

"I feel sort of the same. I think it is important to have a friendship before anything else. I want a deeper connection then just liking someone." He said.

His words were smooth and it was clear that he had really been thinking about this.

"Seems like you have been thinking about this for a while," I said with a half-smile.

"It's been on my mind recently." He shrugged.

"Why is that?" I asked as I studied him.

"I'm not sure..." he said as he looked away from me.

Justin is different...unique in his own way. I found it hard to understand me sometimes. He seems to always be thinking hard about something. He sometimes looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, but he handles it well.

I know that he has been through a lot and I'm glad to see that he is doing good.

"Do you think Demi and Joe like each other?" Justin asked clearly changing the subject.

"I don't know..." I said as my thoughts began to focus on both Demi and Joe.

I know that their past was a bit rocky. They had their rough times. I also knew that their re-kindling was recent. They were starting to get to know each other all over again. They were becoming friends and growing closer in a different way than they had ever experienced before.

As I watched them interact with one another today, it was like they moved in sync with one another without knowing. They still knew each other despite spending all those years apart and they still had a spark between them.

"I think they still have something for one another," Justin said as he began to drink some beer.

"I wouldn't be surprised," I said crossing my legs and letting out a sharp breath.

"They are good for one another," Justin said.

Justin had a distant look on his face. It was as if he was talking about something or someone completely different than Demi and Joe. I could tell that he was deep in thought, like a thought that took him to another universe.

"Are you okay?" I asked as I continued to study him.

"I'm fine." He snapped as he stood to his feet.

He walked away without another word. I sighed and continued to think more about my own problems. A part of me wanted to reach out to Justin but I just couldn't deal with that right now.
