Evan's POV
There's this one specific guy that keeps coming here to the café I work at. Everyday at the same time. But whenever I'm not here, he doesn't seem to come. My friend and coworker Sam told me.
I still remember the day I met him. He was someone who caught my eye quickly.
~Flashback~
I was standing t the front desk counting the bills from the past week, until I heard the front doorbell ring. The glass door swung open and in came a nice young man.
He looked amazing. His brunette un-combed hair, his glistening ocean blue eyes, he was wearing a light blue sleeveless shirt, navy blue jeans, some black running shoes, and glasses.
He had a one strapped bag over his shoulder. He and I locked eyes.
He smiled and walked up to the desk.
"Uh. Hello, how may I help you today?" I asked. He looked down at my shirt.
"Evan huh? Well Evan, I would like to order a coffee and a..hmm." What's good to have here?" He asked propping his chin on the palm of his hand.
"Uhm. I would suggest the scone. They're really good." I said pointing at them. He looked over and nodded smiling.
I got his coffee cup ready and got out a black marker from my shirt pocket.
"May I get your name sir? And what do you want if your coffee?" I asked while still holding the marker.
"Oh just one milk and one sugar please. And it's Tyler." He answered. I wrote down his name and put a heart next to his name.
I got his coffee ready and then got a tiny bag and put his scone in the bag then I handed it to him.
"Thank you. Come again." I said cheerfully as I handed his coffee and scone to him. He then held them with one hand.
"Sorry, how much will that be?" He asked.
"Oh just $4.57." I told him. He got out a ten dollar bill and handed it to me.
"It's not that much. I'll get your change for you." I said and opened the register to get the change.
"No, no. Keep the change." He told me. I looked at him confused and surprised.
"Well don't just stand there. Take it." He insisted. I still stood there I shock. I looked at him and then thought for a moment.
"C'mon. I can't stand here all day." I snapped back into reality and hesitated to take the bill. But I finally took it from his hand and put it into the register.
"T-Thank you. Have a nice day." I said and waved as he walked over to a table nearby.
It was almost the end of my shift and I still saw Tyler there sitting reading a book. I watched him when I had the chance.
Finally my shift was over and I put my change of clothes in my locker and grabbed my bag.
"Bye everybody! See you tomorrow." I yelled and heard them say goodbye. I walked out of the locker room and then saw Tyler there.
"Oh. Your still here." I said a little confused.
"Yeah. I wanted to get to know you better if that's ok." He rubbed the back of his neck a little embarrassed. I saw him blushing a bit too.
"Sure." I smiled at him and we walked out.
He took me to a book store. How did he know I liked books.
"I've seen you staring at my book." He told me. I was a little jumpy cause I have never gotten the time to come here.
I calmly walked around and finally found my dream book.
The Last Letter From My Lover.
"Oh. I've wanted this one so bad and I really want to get it. But I know I can't." I said and put it back on the shelf.
"Why can't you get it?" Tyler asked. I looked up at him and my eyes teared up.
"My mom. She's sick and I need the money to get her medicine. So I work almost everyday." I told him wiping away my tears.
"But it's alright. I don't really need it anyway. C'mon, let's look  around some more." I made a smile and walked away with my hands in my pockets. He quickly followed behind.
~Flashback End~
It was nice of him to bring me there. I still need money for my mom.
Then I saw him walk in again waving to me.
"Afternoon Tyler." I greeted.
"Afternoon Evan." He greeted back.
"Your usual?" I asked.
"Yep. You know it. Maybe a little something for you." He suggested. I blushed.
"You don't need to. I'm not hungry." I told him wiping the desk with a cloth. He came closer and hunched near me.
"C'mon. Tell me what's your favourite." He asked.
"Ugh. Your not going to leave it alone will you?" I asked smiling up at him. He nodded. I sighed and looked at the selections seeing if it still there.
"Fine. It's a blueberry muffin." I whispered to him. He smiled and nodded.
"Alright, then I'll get a blueberry muffin for a wonderful person." He said and grabbed a twenty dollar bill this time.
"Here. Take it. You need it for your mom. I'll pay for the medicine." I looked at the bill then up at Tyler. I smiled and started crying.
"Thank you Tyler. Your a great person." I told him. I ran around the desk and gave him a big hug crying into his shoulder.
"It's alright. Your ok." He rubbed my back while I hugged him tighter. I let go and ran back to desk and got his stuff blushing during the whole thing.
"Here. Have a nice day Ty." I said. He handed me my muffin and then gave me the rest of the money.
I took the bill for mom and put it in my wallet.
"Thank you again Tyler. I'll tell my mom about you. Even though I already have this will make her so happy. She really wants to meet you and I hope you can meet her soon so she can tell, you how much she likes you and...my god I'm rambling." I said and face palmed myself.
"Uh. It's ok. Your just happy. I get it." Tyler said. I smiled and went back to work while he sat down and waited for me.
"So. What happened this morning?" Sam asked.
"Oh Tyler was being so nice to me. You know how my mom needs medicine. Well Tyler gave me the last of the money for it! I'm so happy." I told him.
"Ok now I know your gay for him." Sam told me. I blushed and looked away then stared at Tyler.
"Go on! Ask him out." Sam pushed me towards him. I backed away and shook my head.
"No, no, no! I can't." I told him.
"Ok then. I will ask him for you." Sam said and walked over to Tyler. I watched from behind the desk a little eager.
I saw Tyler smiling and Sam talking with him. They were laughing and smiling a lot.
I saw Sam get serious but then burst into laughter. He must've asked Tyler if he'll go on a date with me. Tyler nodded and smiled. He looked at me and winked.
Sam looked at me and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled and clapped my hands.
Sam walked back over and smirked.
"He said that he'll go with you but he gets to choose where and when. Here's his phone number and address." Sam gave me a piece of paper and I jumped up and hugged him.
"Thank you Sam." I said. He hugged me and after a minute we let go and got back to work. I couldn't stop thinking about the date.
~Time Pass~
After work ended I got dressed into my natural clothes and said goodbye. I ran up to Tyler and hugged him.
"C'mon. I want you to meet my mom today." I told him.
"Alright, alright." He laughed. I pulled on his hand dragging him to my apartment.
I opened the door.
"MOM! Mom! I want you to meet someone!" I yelled in happiness taking off my shoes.
I quickly ran into her room and opened the door.
"Mom. Guess what." I said in excitement.
"What is it sweetie?" She coughed and smiled.
"I got the last bit of money for your medicine." I told her. Her eyes lit up and now teary eyed.
"Really? How did you get the money? You would've have to work another two weeks." She said putting her hands on chest where her heart is.
"C'mere. I want you to meet him. I've told you so much about him." I said. She got out of bed and grabbed her cane. I helped her walk out to the living room.
"Tyler. This is my mom. Mom, this is Tyler. He gave us the last bit of money." I told her. He stood up and shook her hand.
"It's very nice to meet you ma'am. Your son is very hard working." He told her. She laughed.
"I know he is. It was very kind of you to give us this." She thanked. Tyler blushed and rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"It's nothing." He replied. Then she beckoned him to come closer. I couldn't hear what she said but Tyler nodded and blushed really hard.
"How about that date?" Tyler suggested. I nodded and took my mom back to her room.
"Mom. I'll get you the medicine. I'll be back in a bit." I told her.she smiled and soon fell asleep.
~Time Pass~
First we got the medicine and I put it in my bag. As we walked for a while I decided I should make the first move.
I grabbed his hand and held it tight. I smiled and blushed. We sat down on a bench looking out into the beautiful valley.
I laid my head on his shoulder.
"This is nice." I said.
"Yeah. It is." He answered. Our hands were intertwined and now this is finally real. Something I've been dreaming about.
"Evan. Will you go out with me?" Tyler asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Yes. I will." I answered blushing. I sat my head up and we looked at each other.
He and I leaned in and then connected our lips. Finally in a kiss. We pulled away and blushed.
I smiled and hugged Tyler.
~Few Months Later~
Tyler and I have been together for a while. He and I have been taking care of my mom but it's seems she's been getting worse since last month.
We took her to the hospital and now I'm waiting for the results.
My phone rang and I picked it up.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hello. Mr. Fong. Your mother she's...uh..how do I say this.." the doctor said.
"What? She's what!? Tell me please!" I freaked out.
"I'm sorry but she has passed away." I fell to the floor. Tears streaming down my face. Thinking how could this happen? We took good care of her.
"H-How?" I asked.
"She had cancer. In her lungs and they spread. I'm sorry." He apologized.
"So. She'll be alright now? In heaven? Don't worry. It isn't your fault." I told them.
"Yes. She will. We'll have her ready for her funeral if you want." He suggested.
"Of course. That'll be fine. Thank you." I said sniffing.
"Have a good day." I hung up and then began crying again. Sam came over a little worried. He kneeled down beside me.
"What happened? Did Tyler do something?" I shook my head.
"No. It's my mom. She's passed." I told him. I heard the door open. Sam got up and it was Tyler.
"What!?" I heard Tyler yell. He quickly came over and hugged me and kissed me all over.
"It's alright Evan. It's ok." He reassured me.
"Thanks Ty. She's in a better place now." I told him. He nodded and we got up. I planned a small funeral. Just for her and me. I don't think I needed all the sad faces.
After about half an hour. Tyler came with me just in case. He and I went to her grave and I placed some flowers down.

I started to cry as I read. Tyler held me close and I saw him start crying too.
After a while I went to go see the doctor. He told me only the last words she said to tell me.
Tell him. I respect his choice and he can marry whoever he wants. I love you Evan.
I cried and then knew she loved me and was hugging me. Even though she might be gone. She'll always be in my heart...forever. Just like...dad.
She's with him now.
I love you mom, dad.
Tyler will take good care of me. I promise.
I love you Evan
