Evan was a young boy who always loved adventure. His best friend David always followed and tried keeping Evan from getting hurt.
"C'mon Davy!" Evan laughed as David made his way slowly towards Evan.
"Be careful Evy." He told him. "You could slip and fall." Evan waved his hand in disapproval, and grabbed a long stick from the ground.
"I now claim this land!" He exclaimed. He laughed and began to walk closer to the edge of the cliff, watching the waterfall. "Someday Davy, I'm gonna marry you. Right here." David blushed and stood beside Evan. Evan grabbed his and smiled. "I promise Davy."
~Few Years Later~
Evan stared down at the cliff where he had promised David he would marry him. Evan began to cry and he fell to his knees.
"I'm so sorry David." Evan sobbed. "I can't live anymore." He looked at his wrists, seeing the scars, and new cuts he made. Evan stayed there for a long time, determining if he should actually do it.
He finally stood up, wiping his tear stained face and stood at the very edge of the cliff ready to fall.
"EVAN!" David yelled as he ran down to where Evan was. Evan's eyes widened and stepped back to turn and see David running towards him.
David tripped and Evan moved automatically and caught David as he fell. David looked at his best friend and began crying.
"Don't do this." He cried. "You promised me remember?" David stood up straight and took out something from his pocket. Evan watched then saw it was a ring, a gold rim with a ruby in the centre. "My sisters. She told me I could have it, just for you." David smiled as he put it on Evan's finger. "So now your my husband, your bonded to me now." Evan didn't say anything. His eyes filled with tears, and suddenly he was crying.
"T-Thank you D-David." Evan cried and he hugged him. "I l-love you."
"I love you too." David said as he hugged Evan back. "Let's go home." Evan's eyes widened at the word. His parents didn't appreciate that their son was gay.
David intertwined their fingers, and guided Evan back to his house, where his parents and sister had greeted him with delight.
Evan felt happy, for one of the first times in his life. He was accepted. And found someone to love, and take care of.
Evan went up to David and pulled his close, burying his face in his chest. David laughed and kissed his further husband's head. While rubbing his back to calm him down.
"Don't worry Ev. We'll protect you, I'll protect you."
